Those that have said Kaepernick is better than Alex Smith

We are now seeing what some of us people who actually know football have been saying about Kaepernick. The 49ers pulled the trigger too soon going with Kap and have lost their head coach as well as many players (mentally and physically).

If Kap continues this style of play he will be lost too and will be remembered as the only SF QB to lose a Super Bowl. A coach killer? He had everything handed to him and failed to get better. Just as some of us thought, the NFL caught up to him and he hasn't shown the ability to adjust.

Sure they've had some major injuries and players out due to off the field stuff but so does KC. To be honest I didn't think KC would even be in the position they are in now, with fighting for a playoff spot and thought for sure the 49ers would make it. Karma is a beyootch.

I don't think either Bowe or Kelce made any effort at all to try and sell a screen block there. And in response, the defense did not make any effort at all to defend a screen pass, instead dropping 3 DBs deep into coverage. If they were trying to sell a screen there they did so very poorly, and the defense didn't respond as if it were a screen at all.

Look at the linebacker number 57 his pursuit angle shows that he thinks the ball is going to DAT, he even looks at him and then realizes the ball didn't go to him.

After he bites on the fake draw, he sees Alex throwing to that side of the field. He doesn't make any move to the sideline until Smith is throwing the ball. He's still 3 yards from the line of scrimmage in the very middle of the field when Smith has the ball at his ear ready to release.

A still image doesn't show his pursuit angle, you have to watch it in motion and you can see that he thought the ball was going to DAT.

Both LBs are looking at DAT when the ball is thrown and make a move in his direction.

Honestly, I'm aware of his limitations, yet he's exceeded my expectations. Can't get mad long term. The extension irritates me, but didn't surprise me. I'm not anywhere near the level of doom and gloom most posters are. I still believe.

Well yeah.... when the ball is thrown, defenders normally follow where the ball goes. Hell, DAT's guy is breaking to the ball by that point. The point is that they didn't make a break that direction until Smith throws the ball. They're reacting to the pass, not the formation.

Exactly my point, the ball wasn't thrown to DAT but they still broke towards him when the ball was thrown. So they were not reacting to where the ball was thrown, they were reacting to his route/position on the field in the formation.

They broke towards Kelce, because that's where the ball was going. Even DAT's defender breaks to Kelce. So yes, they were reacting to where the ball was thrown, which was to Kelce.

Of course Woodson breaks towards Kelce because he was the only one that had a clean view of where the pass went, the LBs didn't until the ball was halfway there. Kelce's defender was so out of position because he was worried about the screen going to DAT.

Ah, thank goodness Alex is here to direct the 32nd ranked passing offense. Where o where would the Chiefs be without him?

Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick are both on the same tier of QBs. Both are below average, and have limitations.

There's definitely not a clear winner here.

See, this is where I do not agree. The winner is not us. We had to give up two first round picks for a player they were likely going to cut if they couldn't trade.
