It's a wise investment despite what everyone on here says. Although all the protection in the world won't help Alex he's a limited QB who's overpaid.

The O-line last year was good and down the stretch Alex Smith threw 14 touchdowns 2 INT's and posted a franchise record in the playoffs.

The common theme though? He disappeared for the stretch of that Indy game and failed to hit a wide open Cyrus Gray for what would have been a game winning touchdown. People made excuses saying Gray hardly played and pulled up on the route. Alex again this year has proven though he can't make the deep pass or make the game winning play.

What was the surgery that Cassel had and then play after? Did he have his spleen removed or his appendix. It's been a while. I can't remember.

It's silly to rag on Alex Smith for how he played against indy. He didn't disappear and he hit several deep throws. It was the kind of game everyone wants to see more of from Alex Smith. But these types of games, with this year's line and last year's, are hard to find.

Yep. Saw this on my BR email. The set up has begun. Could it be? The Chiefs are no longer going to play full-reerun with personnel?

I'm a bit late so I'm sure it's been discussed.. But it would be hilarious if Chase balled out and threw like 3 TDs to WRs.

Would be even better if Chase suffered a game-ending injury on his first snap and Aaron Murray came in and threw 3 TDs to WRs.

honestly they will prob open it up more because the last game Daniel played was how long ago? It would be smart to hit them with something they wouldn't expect. Daniel should fill in for Alex nicely.. thats what a backup is for..
