With his Batman trilogy now complete, Christopher Nolan has found his next project.

According to multiple sources, Nolan has set his sights on a sci-fi project titled Interstellar, which he is in talks to direct and produce. The project involves time travel and alternate dimensions in a story that sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.

The script for Interstellar was written by Jonathan Nolan, Chris' brother, who worked on The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight, as well as Prestige. Jonathan Nolan (known as Jonah) also has a "story by" credit for Memento, Chris Nolan’s breakout movie.

Steven Spielberg was previously attached to direct Interstellar and produce with Lynda Obst. It is unclear if Spielberg will remain involved, especially considering the director's planned next movie, Robopocalypse, was delayed indefinitely on Wednesday.

I don't see how the drone scene has anything to do with the end of the film.

I thought that was just establishing that he is a ****ing wizard.

Could be. And it could be that it's establishing there is no real military presence anymore.

But Cooper only seems to have been given access to Murph's bedroom. I'm not sure that explains the combines. And it definitely doesn't explain the crash at the beginning of the movie. Now I want to watch it again to see if there are other events that could be influenced by an outside force the way Cooper influences Murph's "timeline."

After thinking and reading way too much about this movie, I think there are a couple points that I haven't seen addressed too often in the million of articles and comments I've seen online.

It is clearly mentioned that Cooper's crash that he dreams about to start the movie was caused by a gravitational anomaly. Who caused it?

Same thing with the Indian drone and the combines. I think people are so caught up in how the final section of the movie played out in relation to time... what about the first section of the film? The way the film plays out, these gravitational anomalies are all intentional.

The drones and the combines were caused by him manipulating gravity in the house. As far as his crash, I have read theories that it was intentional by the advanced beings so that he would no longer be a pilot. That way he ends up being a farmer instead of being sent on the initial exploration missions.

It doesn't matter if his plane was intentionally crashed or if it was accidentally sabotaged by future humans, all that matters is that it crashed and changed his future (presumably he would not have settled on a farm and ended up having a daughter that would go on to save humanity). I think the GPS malfunctions have more to do with the tesseract and the future humans creating a time loop that takes place at that house and at that time using lots and lots of gravity.

Coop is only given access to Murph's bedroom on purpose. Future humans constructed a 5 dimensional object for him to access an important moment in his personal history. It doesn't really matter why they chose it because this is a predestination paradox/circular causation. It had to be chosen... no matter what. Probably some shit about love and desperation or more likely because it is the event that sent him to NORAD where he met up with secret NASA.

My favorite thing about the film is the paradox at the center of the film. In a way these future humans have become gods.

Interstellar's original ending was much different than the final cut....

Nolan’s early take on the ending, however, essentially cuts Cooper off inside the black hole. His script “had the Einstien-Rosen bridge [wormhole] collapse when Cooper tries to send the data back.”

The wormhole falling apart would have prevented Cooper from returning home or interacting with the tesseract, which, according to Nerdist, was director Christopher Nolan’s idea. Instead, his journey would have ended there, with Cooper sacrificing himself in the name of his cause. This also would have prevented much of the finished film’s concluding events—Cooper’s return trip, rediscovering his daughter, and stealing a ship to search for Anne Hathaway’s Amelia Brand would never have happened. Nolan does not mention, however, whether in that original ending, the data Cooper is collecting to send back to Earth would have made it out before the collapse.

That is actually quite tame by Honest Trailer standards. When the movie came out, they were ripping it apart, saying they could not wait for them to do an honest trailer about it.

I will agree, the idea of love being quantifiable was sloppy, but still worked in the context of the film.
