Should the Chiefs trade down?
Interesting article here by Peter King..
http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/04/10/w...ans-saints-nfl King spoke with 10 team officials including a GM and this was the collective response: Quote:
I think I would if Apple, WJIII, Lynch and Butler are gone, which with the way it's looking will be the case. |

I've mentioned this before, but with so many of the offensive roster spots seemingly locked down, I pray that Dorsey loads the hell up on defense here in a few weeks.
Sure, if they think Lynch is a QBOTF, I won't complain, or even with a nice WR. (Even though I like Conley long term) Of our 7 picks, I'd like to for sure see 2 CBs, 1 OLB, and maybe an ILB (Jaylon Smith?) As someone mentioned previously, we need to be stubborn about building onto the defense. Continue to add speed and physicality to that side of the ball. |

Can't forget the guard position either, which I nearly did. Regardless of if the 5 starters are already on the roster or not, the OL depth has to be addressed.

Dorsey mentioned in an interview a couple weeks ago that he thinks having Schwartz at RT will help LDT make big strides, so they seem to have him locked in there. LG is the ?. I think Fulton is starter quality at center, but as far as guard goes he isn't better than Reid. Probably need to draft a guard. Reid Fragel could actually step up and be the next swing tackle if Jah becomes full time LG.

Dropping 10 spots for a 3rd is a deal I'd do providing that there wasn't a player I absolutely had to have sitting there at 28. It's actually outstanding trade value if you're talking a high 3rd round pick.
As for the Mackensie Alexander debate, I see him as a Alterraun Verner clone. Not great, very average and solid. He's not going to win you games but he probably isn't going to lose you any all by himself either. Overall, don't know that I see Alexander as a good schematic fit. I think he'll operate best as a zone defender. |

As much as it would be nice to have a third, there's no way I'm dropping 10 spots and getting an inferior player. That makes absolutely no sense. With at least three QB's going off the board before 28, as well as at least two left tackles, a couple of safeties and linebackers, there's a very good chance that the Chiefs get a blue chipper at 28. The same can't be said at 38. |

With the expected 2 comp picks for 2017, I would love it if the Chiefs moved up by sending away a future 3rd rounder to slide up in this year's 2nd round so we can get Alexander and Doctson with the first two picks.

As for tDocston, I don't know about his drop rate but this blurb from Peter King certainly sours me on these guys. I've had a enough "Dwayne Bowe" to last a decade and don't need to see a repeat: Laquon Treadwell had nine drops in 91 catchable balls, but two other potential first-round receivers were worse: Corey Coleman of Baylor (10 drops in 84 catchable balls) and Will Fuller of Notre Dame (10 in 72). For Fuller, one drop per seven catchable throws—that’s just awful. |

Laz, Morse would get chewed up at tackle with his short arms and below average upper body strength. He needs the ground to generate his upward force which makes him a terrific center

To me, Doctson is the most complete receiver in this class. In my opinion, Doctson has a DeAndre Hopkins ceiling and a Marvin Jones floor. Basically, potential #1 but a solid #2 at worst. With Maclin on one side, it'd be nice to have that reliable possession type on the other. |
