rigged is the wrong word, imo

biased
slanted
weighted

no way anyone can watch that and not come away shaking their heads, mystified that one team so clearly was favored by penalty calls (or no calls)

make no mistake tho, carolina DID NOT deserve to win that game. denver clearly was the better team and dominated, they are the champs and they deserve it. carolina's mistakes and failure to make plays lost the game, not the refs.

Game was not rigged, but I do believe favourable scenarios are created for some franchises through officiating, media coverage and scheduling.
I won't get into specifics, but:
Broncos getting the #1 seed was aided by Belichick resting players and choosing to kick in OT vs the Jets.
Steelers get in over NYJ because they are a better draw, and a Cincy/Pitt game is more intriguing.
JJ Watt is the next best thing behind Andrew Luck to milk in the AFC South, so they go on a run in the second half to give the appearance they are a legit playoff team.
Even the Chiefs win streak with a cancer recovery from a star player is a feel good story for the league.

When Manning goes out of his way to say "Budweiser" and shake the hand of Papa John on-field (wtf was that?) during post-Superbowl celebrations, we all know what this league is about......

I cant honestly say rigged, because Carolina had their chances almost right up until the end... but like Northman, I'd be ok with saying "biased" or "slanted"... the lack of penalties on dinver prove atleast that much.

They didn't need to rig this one.

There is definitely starting to be a star system like people have long complained about with the NBA, where some players or teams get the breaks because of who they are, and things aren't officiated down the middle.

In this case, Denver barely showed up and beat the team that didn't show up at all. No need for a nudge.

Whether the NFL is slanted etc. I can give 4 instances this season alone where I bet money on what the league needed and/or wanted to make more of a story line and won all 4..

1.March 2015 bet on Broncos at 10/1 odds just in case Manning was due to ride off in the sunset a winner.

2.Week 15,Sportscenter is covering the 14-0 Panthers game that day against the Falcons and mentions that if Carolina went 15-0 the Sunday night game(Vikes and G-Men) which had been flexed from a noon slot would have no meaning in the play-off race, thus I thought wtf and threw some money on Atlanta because I thought no way is the league going to flex a game from a noon slot only to have it mean nothing on SNF.

3.Broncos Pats Play-off bet Broncos as a 3 point dog see reason #1

4.Super Bowl 50,having my ticket in play from the March '15 bet Denver is getting 5 1/2 points so again based on my reasoning from #1 I go ahead and place more on Denver.

There was a nudge. They botched that replay.

Even if you think that it was iffy (it wasn't), the call on the field was incomplete, so iffy = call stands as incomplete.

Nah, I agree somewhat...but there is no room for complaining when they just gave the ball away so many times.

This.

Had I never watched Carolina before I would have thought it was rigged as many passes as they dropped.

But, that's not out of the ordinary for them...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

That's pretty much where I'm at.
Zero shits given about who won but, just as an example, the disparity in the way holding/pass interference was being called was obvious.

It always has been and always will be that way.

If you allow the refs to influence the game they will...

No. I just get embarrassed at being a part of a group that is more about whining about all of the ways The Man is out to get us rather than just acknowledging that Denver's defense won that game on their own merits.

Anybody who thought Denver's defense wasn't damn good.....just got their shit pushed in last night.

But on the other side of the fence.....that was the most pathetic offensive gameplan I've ever seen from a team. The Panthers ran on almost every first down. Cam was holding the ball way too long and they weren't giving their tackles any extra help.

IMO...it didn't matter who won last night.....because that was one of the worst SBs that I've ever witnessed.
