From a guy who wasn't able to watch today... what was good/bad?

Summarize the game for me in only the way Chiefs Planet can. I don't want to read what the paid homer BJ Kissel or anyone on Arrowhead Pride has to say.

Charles best ability besides his speed and quickness to take it to the house is to get small when the o-line is having a difficult time opening up holes. West can bounce it outside very quickly and hit 5th gear almost immediately and is stronger than you think. Ware is deceptively fast and very strong and really enjoys the contact of running over people when he has to which is that "Piss and Vinegar" attitude I was talking about earlier.

If it was regular season, I would suspect the DC or HC would have called a time-out prior to the hail mary play and the 2 point conversion. I believe KC had 2 timeouts left at the time.

All in all I was very impressed with game 1.

Once Hogan came in in the 4th I couldn't give a $#it and turned it off.

Both the 1st and 2nd team looked much better than I would have expected.

Ware is still a beast...

If we were still arguing no 2 or no 3 I'd say Murray then Bray.

Since this is likely for the 3rd (and last) QB spot I'd take Bray. Murray looked like a more "mature" and experienced QB, better suited for a no 2 role, but Bray's upside is much bigger.

Since we're talking about that 3rd spot I'd prefer that low risk/low cost/high reward situation...

1. Alex Smith looked like Alex Smith. He made a great play, in which he scrambled, bought time and threw a bullet to Maclin on the 1/2 yardline. The offense was sharp and efficient. He made some great throws to Ross Travis and D. Harris.

2. Nick Foles did a decent enough job but his accuracy was an issue (which has been described by Paylor during TC). He's got a command of the huddle but he needs time to create some chemistry with the receivers.

3. Tyler Bray was Tyler Bray. 2 for 9 at one point. Terrible decision making, bad throws but one beautiful sideline throw to Rod Streater.

4. Aaron Murray was sharp and efficient. His arm looked much stronger this year and he had a few bullets to Da'Ron Brown that were right on the money.

5. Kevin Hogan was disappointing. For all of the positive reviews of OTA's and minicamp, he looked lost. He consistently threw behind his receivers and looks like a Practice Squad guy.

RB's

Spencer Ware picked up where he left off during the regular season. He looked strong, quick and powerful. Charcandrick West showed his typical burst and played well. Knile Davis was fairly ineffective and Darren Reaves clearly outplayed him.

WR's
Maclin was his usual impressive self. Streater had a great catch but missed on a long gainer. Hill was targeted 4 times but only came away with one catch, as they were pretty poor throws. DAT had three receptions and made the most of his opportunities. Da'Ron Brown and Mike Williams each had a nice grab with Murray but otherwise failed to impress. Chris Conley was invisible.

TE's
Harris made a couple of great grabs while dropping another. Ross Travis made a great catch and really looks like he'll be a weapon this season along with Kelce and Maclin

OL:
Best starting offensive line performance in more than a decade, IMO. Solid from left to right. The second team offensive line did pretty well, too. Fulton was solid and Sterup looks like a guy that could become a solid swing tackle. I'm not sure they slip him through waivers now. The 3rd teamers were pretty rank.

----------
The bottom line for me is that there's a HUGE dropoff between Smith to Foles and Murray and even steeper from Murray to Bray & Hogan. The second team line was good enough. The TE's look like a strength and there's depth at WR, although it's hard to rank them at this point because they haven't all played with Smith but at this point, Maclin and Streater look like the two best receivers.

This is the best evaluation I've seen so far.

Just no football sense in his play.
I was hoping that Ford could step up this year. That play where the RB bounced to the outside to beat Ford around the corner was bad. He still showed the occasional flash at getting pressure but really did nothing otherwise.
I guess you could say that I'm disappointed. If he doesn't start to show something then it's looking like he's a bust.

He looks like a solid situational pass rusher.

That's pretty much all he was good at in college and all we should expect...

So i fast forwarded thru the first half last night after the kids went to bed.

OL looks awesome. Excited to see that.

TE is a strength. Hill got off the line against Sherman, the hype is real.

Defense got gashed a bit, Wilson is the same "catch" tackler he was in college. He probably has a place but I'm not sure he's a starter. March is ferocious a d needs to be next to dj.

Ford looks like the same guy he was last year.

I quit watching at halftime, have to catch the rest later
