No Combine thread?

Wake up, shitbags.

Early thoughts: this year's class of OL look great on athleticism, light on raw power.

The only OL whose measurements and bench press stand out as potentially elite was Ereck Flowers. Long arms, ideal size, 37 reps.

A favorite of kccrow's, Sean Hickey, did great on bench but has shorter arms for a tackle.

Ogbuehi continues to look like a tremendously promising prospect. Elite athleticism, as we'll all see soon, and 36" arms!

The kid from Hobart continues to look good. Strong, great size, good arms.

La'el Collins has measured disappointingly. He's barely over 300 lbs, with only-pretty-good 33" arms, and 21 reps. Time will tell on him.

What I'm saying is that he had to put on 15 pounds of bad weight just to get up to 235 for the Combine weigh in. You watch him playing and he's a legit 215/220 lb. dude during his college days. Combine that with his lack of height, short arms and horrible speed (4.93) and low burst (atrocious 28" vertical) at that weight, there is no way he's playing middle linebacker at the NFL level in a 34.

Yes, the Chiefs played in a quasi-425 much like Dick Bumpas runs at TCU, but he's not going to do that effectively at the NFL level at 215/225 lbs. at the ILB position. That's one of your extra safeties, who's running much faster with better pass defense skills.

I know what you are saying with the similarities in the system and what Dawson showed on tape in college. But that isn't translating to the next level because of his physical limitations.

And let's not sugar coat it - a guy going into the Combine that looked as bad as he did and ran as slow and jumped as low as he did is not showing much in the way of dedication, preparation and commitment.

The ****ing guy failed it. Huge. F-.

4.93 and 28" at only 235 lbs. That's a major embarrassment.

His performance has to do a lot with where they went to prepare IMO. Chris Hackett (the safety from TCU) also showed up much larger and extremely slow to the combine. Tayo had somewhat disappointing numbers as well. They all prepped at the same place in San Diego.

Agree 100% with Sac here. I'm dropping Dawson big time on my board on the sheer fact that he was absolutely atrocious at everything at the combine. He looked like he had a beer gut and ran that way. That puts up some serious red flags.

Let's face it, Sac is right about a very important fact that Dawson just compartmentalized himself into a very specific role in the NFL. He is going to only really fit for 4-3 teams on the weak side, and that is providing he drops the bad weight and runs well at his pro day.

Dawson didn't just fail, he likely took himself off of many teams' draft boards altogether. Unless he significantly improves at his pro day, I'd say 5th round could be the highest he could hope to go at this point, and I'm being entirely serious.

Many players look good in college, but NFL teams have to believe that it will translate well. Dawson failed the first test handily.

If so, that place just lost a lot of future revenue.

Would love this to be the case. Mocked this to happen in a recent thread and feel the same way.

Amazing that we were able to get Phillip Gaines in round 3.

Phillip Gaines
6 ft 193 lbs
Arm length-31 7/8
Hand size-9 5/8
40 time-4.38
Vertical-36.5 inches
Bench-11 reps
3 cone-6.62
20 yd-4.04

Trae Waynes
6 ft 186 lbs
Arm length-31
Hand size-8 1/4
40 time-4.31
Vertical-38 inches
Bench-19 reps
3 cone-7.06
20 yd-4.39

Outstanding job by John Dorsey to get Gaines where he did last year. What a steal. These kids are almost the same type of player, but Gaines is quicker in short areas. Only real pro that Waynes has that Gaines doesn't is strength, but Gaines can easily get there with one offseason in the gym.

Probably a mid to late round free safety prospect that we draft. Sacc will go wild.

Adrian Amos... Mid Round Safety that is the type of player the Chiefs have went after. Alot like Husain Abdullah, but bigger. He ran better than I thought he would and this kid was already high on my radar.

Put Gaines combine bio up against that of Derrelle Revis and you'll see a striking comparison.

Rowe will go around the 3/4/5 area and he'll be looked at as a press corner versus safety.

Was Freshman All-American, two time All-Conference, three year starter at free safety in 2013 and moved over to CB in 2014 to fill the void left by 2014 fourth round pick Keith McGill where he was again HM All-Conference.

Defends the pass well and is very solid against the run.

Rowe had an exceptional combine. Checked all the boxes for speed, burst, quickness and strength. "Top performer" in every single Combine drill.

He's as good, if not better, than Gaines was a prospect at the same stage.

6'1"
205 lb.
31 1/2" Arms
9 1/2" Hands

40: 4.45
Bench: 19 Reps
Vertical: 39"
Broad: 125"
3 Cone: 6.70 seconds
20 Shuttle: 3.97 seconds
60 Shuttle: 11.48 seconds

He fits exactly what they want in a CB.

Yeah the issue with Gaines was weed and he was/is a stick.

The good news for us, just like the deal with Houston, is that he's hopefully past the weed.

I really hope he is crushing protein shakes this offseason.
