I knew a guy. Played music locally. Died at a relatively young age by heart failure (about 43, but overweight) and a guy he played music with for a small time, that was close with his family, blah blah blahed and played a song they recorded. BAM The container his ashes were in spilled to the ground. Nobody was standing near it. It wasn't knocked over. It just fell. I know, for a fact, he wasn't a fan of that guy or the bullshit music they made. Now I don't believe in supernatural nonsense... but that happened. Coincidence? Yeah. My reason tells me that. It's not what I want to think though. I think my buddy was just kicking the can over and giving that guy the finger as he departed. I like it that way. |

I have personally never seen a ghost, but I believe if they exist anywhere, it's on the Gettysburg battlefield at night.

I'm with Dane on this one. I don't necessarily believe in Ghosts, but I think there are spirits at times.
My wife's grand parents, whom she was very very close with, died years earlier prior to us meeting and getting married. She was going to her dress fitting with her mom one evening, and when she exited the dressing room, the lady that worked there sort of sung the "Here She Comes....Miss America" thing. Both my wife and MIL asked her if she did that all that all the time or if it was just a whim. The lady that worked there said "hm,...nah. I don't think I have. I just sort of blurted it out". What's odd is that my wife's grand father used to sing that to her when she would come into a room when she was a little girl. Then, a few days before the wedding, we all went to pick up the dress, and my tux. My wife and I, her mom and step dad etc. And as we're paying for the tuxes, over the music system we hear Rod Stewart's "Have I told You Lately that I love You". The song she picked to play at he grandmothers memorial. weird.

Haha, you have been doing some research! I haven't made it down to Flirty with anybody yet, but the local nursing college sure has some lookers. I'll get back to you sometime in February if I bring a date up for our class winter banquet. Funny you should mention that.. Last night was branch night, the night when firsties (seniors) find out what they'll be doing for at least the next five years. Right now, my top three choices are armor, aviation, and engineers.

Dane, WhiteWhale, and Dayze, I love reading those kinds of stories. I haven't had anybody really close pass away since I was young, but I seem to remember a similar coincidence or two shortly after.

Great stories in this thread. I don't know if I believe in ghosts or not, but the farm house I rented in Colorado was quirky.
No matter what time I went to bed or how drunk I got, every single day I lived there, I'd wake up at 5:01. There was nothing scary or abrupt about it, but it was every damn day. Then I'd just get up or easily fall back asleep. Then, if the girlfriend would come over, the tv would turn on automatically. It never did it before or after I lived there. So I'd unplug it when she visited because it freaked her out.

We moved to an old house in the town we currently reside when my oldest daughter was 2. The former owner had died in the home, but it didn't bother me.
pretty early on, my daughter started having night terrors. I mean screaming bloody murder, shaking, incoherent for 10 minutes after you went in and had the light on. She'd be screaming that the monster was getting her, or that the monster was getting ME while I was holding her. I thought about the former incident and wondered if something was going on because her room was the former bedroom of the previous tenant. One night, when she was afraid to get into bed(because I had to lay with her until she fell asleep for a while).....I told her she didn't need to be afraid....that the bad guy/monster/ghost had a night light because it was more afraid of her daddy than she was of it.....I then saw a box that had a lamp or something that had the Styrofoam fitting in it......I said "look here, this is what would happen if it came back..." and I proceeded to punch, kick and stomp that foam into pebbles. She said "that's what you would do" "yes, that's what I would do"....."OK" and we haven't had another boogie man since. Not the same thing.......but the former story made me wonder more than I previously would have.... |

Here is my other related story.....to my first and the previous.
In the same house a couple of years later when we had another 2 year old and a baby....I started hearing things at night. You don't sleep as well when you have a baby...you hear them breath, you hear them not breath....about the time you get comfortable, the wife wakes you up and there is a bat in the room on the wall over the baby's crib......or landed on the pillow next to her(it happened....and THAT friends is the day you stop doing the bat removal yourself and pay the nice man $1000 to come and handle it professionally)..... Anyway, Several times in the night, I'd hear little quick footsteps on the carpet.....and I'd feel something slap me (in my sleep, in my bed)....or touch me. A couple of times I rolled over and saw nothing. Again, the previous events DO affect one's thinking....and I started to wonder wtf was going on.....It got to the point where I'd be asleep, dreaming, and I'd hear the footsteps and anticipate getting touched.....and it creeped me the F out. One night, I hear it coming(in my sleep)....I must be semi-lucid and I decide "F it, I'm going to look, I'm going to figure out what in the hell this is......." I hear the footsteps whisping across the rug.....its' coming.....then I feel the SLAP on my bag and hear the footsteps....I flip over and nothing is beside the bed.......and then I see a white flash with a red top cross the foot of the bed and head into the hallway. In my haze, my first thought is a chucky doll ghost like you've seen in the spook movies....my eyes are catching focus as the shape hits the bedroom door and in the night light from the bathroom, I see the white night gown and hair of my middle child. the little shit had been waking up, coming in and standing and "watching me sleep"...but was afraid to wake me up....so she was touching me or slapping my back and running back to her room. The boogie man of that even is now in 4th grade. Point being.....Most of these "Scary things" have explainable reasons.....but not all of them. |

I had a recent experience that I feel is worth bumping this thread.
My friend and me go the dog park with the dogs a couple times a week and we met up with another couple there who invited us over to their house to have a beer and let the dogs play. After a little chit chat and an adult beverage I asked to use the bathroom. While taking a leak I hear “get out”. Stopped me in mid-stream. The same thing occurred again, I figured one of their 2 kids were playing tricks on me. However, there was a window facing the backyard where everyone was gathered and all were present. Another hour or so went by and Charlane went up to use the facilities and said she experienced the same except she said it wasn’t “get out” just howls sounding. Some time passes by and I need to take a leak and go up again but this time I ask Char to come with me and stand by the door. I thought someone slipped me a mickey. Same exact thing “get out”, “get out” only this time toilet paper started coming off the roll. I looked at the window and everyone was present. I pulled back the shower curtain and let out a WTF. Took the toilet paper setup apart, nothing. Asked Char if she saw the same thing I did and wide eyed and shaking she confirmed. Char is a dental hygienist who smoked a doobie in college once and doesn’t drink. I’m a computer scientist with engineering background. Neither of us were intoxicated or have ever claimed to experience anything like that in our lives. Were both a little shaken and trying to rationalize what just happened but were unable to. My approach was to ask the people who lived in the house if they experienced any weird stuff. I had my dog there with me (beautiful fawn boxer) who their son was playing with at the time. Went up played with the dog and eased into “have you ever seen anything weird happen in the house?”. Without missing a beat he laughed and said “oh, yeah, that Charlie, he don’t like, you’re too strong of a presence”. Me an Char are jaw dropped at this point. I asked how he knew this and his answer was “Charlie told me”. At this point I steal my dog away and go over to the daughter using the dog to break the ice and act as a distraction. Char managed to keep the son occupied for a couple of minutes so as they couldn’t collaborate. Same questions, same answers. At this point I’m kind of freaked. So I walk up to the mother and ask the same questions but she elaborates a bit more but confirms the same occurrences. She said she couldn’t afford to move or she would. We high tailed it out of there and agreed we’ll never walk in that house again. If that wasn’t a ghost it was one of the most elaborate, non-profit producing, meaningless, hoaxes I’ve ever seen. Do, I believe in ghosts? Before this I would have laughed now I’ll answer “something was in that house”.
