World Anti-Doping Agency: Russia Should be Banned from the 2016 Olympics

http://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/34765444

http://espn.go.com/olympics/trackand...field-athletes

After a long investigation, WADA just released a shocking report today accusing the Russian Federation of running a huge state-sponsored doping scheme, including helping their athletes avoid detection in drug testing. They named 10 Russian athletes and coaches who should be banned for life, and given how corrupt Russia apparently is and the little amount of time remaining to the next olympic games, they also recommend that the IOC ban Russia from competing in Rio. (Not sure if the recommendation is just Russia's track and field team, or all of their athletes)

The IOC is not obligated to agree to the recommendation, but there's pressure all over the world on the IOC to hammer Russia.

Sounds like a political stunt to show them as the bad guy, since they're making us look weak in the Syria debacle.

Says the troll who told me the Astros were better than the Royals after game 3 of the ALDS. I was even more of a believer in your team than you.

Sorry, but pointing out that the MLB playoffs are a crapshoot where anything can happen in such a small sample size isn't a "bullshit excuse." It's not even an excuse at all. It's just a fact of the sport and one that I've been saying it long before the Jays ever made the playoffs (and they didn't for 22 years before this). Hell, the '92 and '93 Jays teams that actually won the WS (especially the '92) arguably weren't even the best teams in those seasons, they just played better over 10+ games in October.

I agree to an extent but I think when a team like the Royals wins 5 out of 6 playoffs series in a 2 year span or Giants that recently won 6 out of 6 its a little more than just luck.

Back-to-back World Series appearances... If only the Blue Jays were that lucky. Or is it good?

I read a summary of the report -- you have no idea how bad it is. It's stunning. It would be comical if it wasn't so unbelievably ridiculous.

I'm not sure we were better than Houston, at least head to head. They were a tough matchup for us. Fortunately, Toronto wasn't. Lulz @ u.

You always point out how every playoffs is a crap shot which to me is your built in excuse. I could buy that if we are talking about the NCAA Tournament or the NFL playoffs. But any playoffs with multiple 7 game series the better team always wins.

It's not an excuse. The randomness of baseball is very real.

Quality bears itself out in baseball over a far longer time than 15+ games. There are plenty of studies that I could cite for you on that point, but I know they'd fall on deaf ears.

They were that lucky/good once. You may not remember it, but it was called 1992-1993.

So you're admitting the better team doesn't always win a playoff series in baseball, then?
