Royals get Jack Shit-hope for the best. Decide 2nd or 3rd for the next ten years is not too bad-after all they are still making a profit.

I don't bet that he is speculating. Look at Moore's track record. You really believe it's a stretch to think Moore, the guy who gets butt hurt every time the KC Star gets a little rough on him, didn't want to make a trade that cost him the biggest trade of his career?

Dude you have to realize, trading for Shields was GMDM's "all in" move and he more or less put himself on the line to get to the playoffs in 2 years or he was a failure.

One day I hope to see the Royals owned by a competent owner and ran by a capable GM. I guess you could make the argument that our current GM is hamstrung by the tightass owner, but still.

I just find it odd that nobody else is reporting this. There has been literally hours of talk about this trade today and nobody but one guy has questioned why Moore didn't make this trade that was available? Sounds fishy.

It's easy for Passan to say this. Moore and Beane aren't going to comment on it so there is no risk in him making this statement. I could be wrong, lord knows I've been wrong plenty, but something doesn't seem right.

Moore should be gone regardless, but if this is proven to be true he should be gone before the end of the season.

Considering only one big bat moved today, in a deal that was superior to what the Royals could or should offer, there really isn't much to bitch about it. If a bunch of trades happened that the Royals should have pounced on we would have every right to bitch. But they didn't.

We should have offered Shields, Aoki, and one of our relievers for Cespedes. Hell, it's being reported that Shields and a ****ing prospect would have gotten the deal done. That's what's got me worked up, anyway.

If WAR is reliable the tigers traded 3.1 WAR for 2.73.

Where it could really help them is in the playoffs.

Passen is blowing smoke on Kansas City radio, all the national guys were shocked as hell when this deal went down. Rosenthal was saying Lester to A's for awhile. Aoki has no value to Oakland. So that is just some pipedream trade. Royals had nobody of value that is similar to Gomes. Hell the Royals wanted Gomes. Unless you want to throw Zimmer or Lamb out there, this deal wasn't go to get done mainly because Lester is having a lights out year and is the better pitcher.

When the Alex Rios, Marlon Byrd, Josh Willingham types didn't get traded that should be telling you something about the price on the trade market.
