First mock

Ok...here's my first mock offseason for 2015. Go Chiefs!!!

Tried to emphasis bringing in some talent and competition at OL and WR. Took advantage of available FA in the AFC West to secure our position on top of the division next year!

Resign: Houston, Hudson, Parker, Mauga, Harris

Cut: Fasano, Daniel, Avery, Jenkins

Restructure/Extend: Hali, Bowe

FreeAgent Pickups: WR Royal, OG Orlando Franklin

Notes: Berry out for 2015 season, DJ comes back.

2015 Draft

Rd 1: WR Dorial Green-Beckham (MU) - 6'4, 225 lbs

Typically I'd prefer more of "sure thing" in rd 1, but I just can't stand the thought of missing out on the next AJ, Dez or Demaryius. Chiefs gamble on a guy that is a top 10 talent and pray for the best.

RD 2: OT Daryl Williams (OK) - 6'5, 330 lbs

After a run on Tackles in the first round, Williams falls in the second to us and we address our OL. William's is a big physical aggressive tackle who offers an upgrade for us at RT.

RD 3: WR Philip Dorsett (MIA) - 5'10, 182 lbs

Fastest guy in the draft and he created some buzz at the senior bowl around his ability to separate from coverage. Sounds exactly like what we need in KC!

3b. OG Trey Jackson (FST) - 6'3, 337 lbs

Another big lineman to add depth to our OL. Jackson can play OT or OG and has championship experience at FST.

RD 4: S Eric Rowe (UT) - 6'1, 202 lbs

Rowe can play CB or S and fits the size preferences that Dorsey and Sutton look for in our secondary. Just like Jackson he's another versatile guy, with great size, that can add needed depth.

RD 5: ILB Jake Ryan (MI) - 6'3, 236 lbs

Good depth for us at ILB. Ryan has great range against the run and has had 100+ tackle seasons. Not sure he's DJ's eventual replacement but has the specific skills we need and fills a need.

5b. CB Josh Shaw (USC) - 6'1, 205 lbs

Dropped his draft stock due to immaturity, but he fits Dorsey and Huttons mold at CB physically. I'm for picking him up as a bargain in the 5th.

RD 6: DT Terry Williams ECU - 6'1, 355 lbs

Depth behind Poe at NT. Williams looks like a bowling ball but can generate some pressure.

RD 7: TE Pharaoh Brown (OR) - 6'4, 240 lbs

Was having a great season until injured, I've read he may go undrafted now. (25 catches, 420 yards, 6 TDs in 9 games).

7b. OT Austin Shepherd AL - 6'4, 330 lbs

More OL depth from a winning culture.

Depth Chart:

QB: Smith, Pryor, Murray
RB: Charles, Davis, DAT, Gray
FB: Sherman

WR:Bowe, DGB, Royal, Avant, Dorsett, Wilson, DAT
TE: Kelce, Harris, Brown

LT: Fisher, Allen
LG: Franklin, Duvarney-Tardif
C: Hudson, Kush
RG:Fulton, Jackson
RT: Williams, Stephenson

DE: Devitro, Howard
NT: Poe, Williams
DE: Bailey, Catapano

OLB: Hali, Ford,
ILB: DJ, Brown
ILB: Mays, Mauga
OLB: Houston, Martin

CB: Smith, Gaines, Cooper, Shaw
S: Abdullah, Parker, Cummings, Rowe
K: Santos
P: Colquitt
LS: Gafford

I borrowed here and there from others, thank you for inspiring me. Let me know what you guys think!

I think there are about 5 guards that you could draft in this draft and they'd start in 2015 and be very good. I don't think we need to go there until the 3rd, or possibly the 2nd if a Pro Bowl caliber talent like Josue Matias is still there.

I think tackle is very realistic, and probable, in the 1st. There's tons of excellent tackles and only so many WRs.
I also agree with these statements completely.

This is a fair point, but I feel like there is so much talent in FA and in the draft at WR that the relative lack of options at OL makes our needs there a priority. Ultimately I think its the right decision to grab a tackle in the first.

Here's a look at what I was trying to project as a mock for a Reid coached team tonight... It kind of blends what you guys are looking at...

1. WR Phillip Dorsett - Miami
DeSean Jackson type of player that would flourish in Reid's quick hit offense. He's uncoverable off the line.

2. OG Josue Matias - Florida State
Really good looking guard that reminds me of Evan Mathis. Tackle type traits but not quite athletic enough for the outside.

3. OT Donovan Smith - Penn State
Not athletic enough for the left side, but looks like he could be physically imposing at RT while still athletic enough in a zone blocking scheme, in a similar mould to Todd Herremans.

3. ILB Ramik Wilson - Georgia
Athletic linebacker with alot of the same qualities coming out as Derrick Johnson. If Johnson is healthy, Wilson can learn for a year or two how to play the MIKE position from one of the games now better players.

4. WR Stefon Diggs - Maryland
Athletic and another quick and fast receiver in a similar mould to Jeremy Maclin.

5. S Adrian Amos - Penn State
A very solid all-around safety in very much the same mould as Husain Abdullah, and would have a chance to learn from him.

5. ILB Taiwan Jones - Michigan State
This is more of a "me" pick to help address that 2-down thumper role the Chiefs lacked.

5. OG Mark Glowinski - West Virginia
Longer, athletic guard that Reid seems to prefer

6. CB Cam Thomas - Western Kentucky
Longer corner with some press ability that Sutton seems to like

7. OLB Brock Hekking - Nevada
History with Nevada players? I dunno, I like the kid. He's a try hard and Reid likes EDGE defenders

7. WR Chase Cochran - Ohio
A long, lanky receiver with speed and quickness. Kind of a sleeper guy that I think fits Reid.

I like where your heads at, and I do really like Dorsett and Matius. I agree that Dorsett could rise on draft boards across the league along with Lockett, but others don't seem to be as high on Matius as you and I are and there's a lot of receivers in this draft so I'm wondering if we couldn't go...

1) Flowers OT
2) Dorsett WR
3) Matius OG

Ultimately, I think that if we go OL in the first there will be plenty of options at WR in the 2nd. Here's a list of potential 2nd round WRs, several of these guys should be available when we pick:

DGB
Dorsett
Coates
Greene
Montgomery
Hardy
Lockett

I actually think Donovan Smith has LT upside. But yeah, probably a RT.

DGB's a top ten pick, by the way. Not a second rounder. He's going to erupt at the Combine, and teams don't give a shit about his character.

I agree that he's a top 10 talent, but part of me feels like if there was ever a year in which teams would pass on someone with "domestic abuse" being floated around with his draft card this is the year. I remember how far the honey badger fell for weed alone and I certainly don't remember him pushing chix down stairways.

...not that I agree, but I think its possible he falls to the 2nd due to the negative stigma.

It's not possible.

Any year where Jameis Winston goes #1 overall is not the same year DGB falls to the 2nd round.

Truth. Buuut I could imagine a scenario where Winston falls out of the top 10.

If Winston isn't a Top Two selection, I will drive to SNR's house dressed in an elegant summer dress, and sing "She Taught Me To Yodel" while teabagging a shoebox.

Haha We'll hold ya to it!

But I agree. In my opinion Winston should go #1 and DGB should go mid-first.
