Agree, send him out there for plays with large numbers of receiving options and if the Chargers double him up in order to prevent him from getting the yards he needs, make them pay the price with a run-up score. I think the chargers are smart enough to know that if he gets his yards during the Chiefs first series, deep on the Chief's side of the 50, Andy will probably pull him. If the Chiefs are gifted those yards and they don't pull him, then I'd expect them to be more hostile toward him - as hostile as they'd be to any player out there as they try to flex whatever muscle they have/can in a meaningless game.

The Chargers “mastermind” behind their Kelce-friendly defense… Brandon Staley… is no more.

Except for Swifties. They think he's pretty mediocre from what they've seen in 2023 (when they began watching football).

Does Kelce actually want to go after this statistical milestone if it’s done so in a forced/manufactured way… rather than in the natural flow of a game that matters?

No one at his HOF induction ceremony is going to say "Kelce had over 1,000 yards 8 seasons in a row, but the last one has an asterisk beside it because it was a meaningless game that he didn't actually need to play in."

Kelce’s HOF resume is secured, he doesn’t need this.

To me the risk of injury in a 100% meaningless game is not worth trying to chase this statistical milestone.

Thinking of a coward. He could just as easily blow his ankle out walking down the stairs in his house.

8 consecutive 1000+ yards seasons not only puts him at the elite level of TE it puts him up with the greatest WRs of all time.

Whenever you have the chance to achieve greatness or raise that to an even higher level you do it.

I agree , the difference between 999 yards and 1k is fairly big when it comes to nfl stats, 8 years of 900+ yards I am sure has been achieved at some point and no shits were given

But he isn't just going into the HOF. His legacy is to be the GOAT TE. And this puts him in the same boat as elite WRS like Marvin Harrison. If he can pull it off next season now we're talking Jerry rice.

However, every time Michael Strahan's name comes up, I'll be sure to mention that Favre took a dive to give him that record.

How do you not see the difference? In this game if Kelce plays the entire goal is always to get him the ball no matter what on every play. Guys can tee off on him. Thats a really easy way to get someone injured. In a normal game yeah hes a focal point but its not forced every play and not always obvious.
