Mine was hauling small square bales of hay. It is hot, often over 100 degrees in the barn. You have to wear a long sleeved shirt or your arms will get bloodied. And it is damn hard work. Bales of alfalfa can weigh up to 90 pounds. No way I could do it today.

Gaz once told us about a job he had at a butcher shop. He had to cut up frozen liver with a bandsaw. Little sawdust like pieces got all over him and thawed out and stank.

Assembly line work was the worst for me. Same shit over and over and over again. The shift was from 3pm to 11pm with one thirty minute break. This was after going to school from 8am to 2pm. Didn't last a full week.

For ONE day, I tried the door-to-door sales routine .... I answered the ad in the paper, as it said I could make $400 per day or whatever. Yeah. Not so. I rode with this guy and we prowled the "nice neighborhoods" peddling the choicest of meats ... what a ****ing joke. I quit after the first day.

First job I ever had was clean-up man on a roofing crew when I was 15 years old. Probably the worst. Nothing worse than pitchforking hot shingles into a wheelbarrow and into a dumpster all day in the middle of August.

Hottest was like Skip hauling hay .. but it got you shape for football .. Worst was hot-roofing mopping on hot-tar then laying the roofing then mopping it again with hot-tar ....

I've done some of that. The smell of that tar after a night of heavy drinking is brutal.

Dad's a farmer, so I've done most of the stuff listed here. The good thing about it was that there was an end. It's not like I had to do the shitty stuff over and over for months on end.

I particularly hated picking up irrigation pipe. It doesn't seem terrible, but I really hated it. Especially when shit would crawl in the pipe (on a surge valve) and subsequently die.

I also had a pretty shitty experience painting slip plate on the grain cart. It is basically powdered graphite in paint so the grain will slide down the sides of the grain cart better. Anyway, you can keep your footing on it, but as soon as you drag your foot or slide on it at all, it's over. Well, I was doing fine until I was reaching for a corner and biffed it. The rest of the time sucked.

My grandpa had built a grainary onto his shop and I got the job of leveling the grain so the insurance company could measure it. Wheat dust gives me asthma and even though I had a mask on I had an attack and was pretty ****ed up for a few days.

One time dad bought a piece of ground that had been CRP for probably 30 years. I had to pick up the old fence that was half buried and all dead. The ****ers had wire separators like every foot so I had to pick up all those too. I didn't have a wire roller or anything. Just me and a trailor. The ****ing railroad had left a bunch of telephone poles that were abandonded out there too. That sucked hard.

Hoeing weeds isn't too bad unless it is mostly weeds and an occasional crop.

When I was in high school my grandpa ran some cows. He had mailed it in several years before, so there was no way he was upgrading his equipment. The last few years the equipment was so shitty it was probably more of a hinderance than a tool, and of course he had waited WAAAY too long to work them, so it was pretty much me vs. The cow. Suckage

I was in charge of having sex with the female inmates at a correctional institution. It might sound great but its a lot of responsibility making up schedules, getting all the guards on board with the program, and making sure each woman got nailed everyday. After a while I had to return to a nice, quiet desk job.

I've had alot of physically hard jobs over the years, I've had alot of jobs where I had to do nasty things like fish maxipad and condom damns out of plugged sewers, and at least 4-5 I've seen on Dirty Jobs. The farmer stuff was tough but I liked it for the most part.

My least favorite job was a short term night shift technical job in a cube farm. Other than 2 crazy bastards that also worked there, it was horribly boring. I hated it.

Side note: This week, the 3rd of 6 in my family broke a bone working with cattle and a 4th with a pretty bad hand injury. I still like working with those cows most of the time, its' a nice break from an office job to have shit and mud on you once in a while.

I was 15 and landed a job with my best friend feeding Chihuahas at a breeder farm called Farlo's Chihuaha World. The damn place sat right next to an industrial chicken farm. The place smelled like a two acre sewage lagoon. The dogs were evil creatures and attempted to bite you everytime you went to fill up their bowl. One got in to the pen where the old couple kept a couple of Great Danes. Bit the son of a bitch right in half. We did a little damage control and carried the two pieces across the highway and tossed it in a ditch. Jeff played Taps on his kazoo. The Farlos kept asking "where'd Poncho go? Did he run away?" Sad, just sad...It was awful, my shoes were continually caked with dog shit and everday I went to work I flet like puking in my mouth a little.

Road construction flag man has to be right up there too. Standing on a rural HWY for 14hrs in the hot sun was boring and sucked pretty badly.
