Problems with Flash Player

So for the past 2 months or so, I've been having problems with Flash player. I've uninstalled it and re-installed it. I've downgraded to previous versions. I've switched browsers. I've downgraded browsers and used beta versions. Pretty much everything and nothing seems to be working.

On Firefox, it's pretty much a dumpster fire. It will crash every time something that uses flash comes up. No matter how small. Every once in a while, it will play, but even in those times, forget about multitasking because if you do, it will crash.

On Chrome it's not as bad, but still bad. Either the video will take 5-7 seconds to load, or it will play for 5 seconds (without sound), then freeze for a few seconds and then finally play normally. It will also crash every once in a while, but I have to have multiple videos or flash apps open for it to crash.

After 2 months, I'm tired of dealing with it, and would really like to be able to go back to being able to use both browsers.

Bumping this...

I recently installed Windows 7 on a laptop and am having all these issues you guys described. I've tried Chrome, Firefox and IE. All flash players are having issues. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, changing Flash to not use "protected mode" in the config file, uninstalling/reinstalling. Nothing has worked. I never had these issues on the same laptop running XP.

My kids have homework that they do online and all those sites use Flash. With the homework games they use, they run fine for 5 or 10 minutes, and then slow down to a crawl. In fact, the entire system slows to a crawl...even after shutting down the browser. After that, the system will only get back to normal after a reboot, or waiting for about 30 minutes. When playing streaming video, it gets bad much quicker...usually within a minute. The video will start chopping, and the audio will mess up.

It's a Dell Latitude E6500. I usually have it in a docking station, but I've tried it docked and undocked and that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Has anyone found a definitive fix for this?
