At the time, that movie was a fresh look at some taboo behavior and subjects, it almost was if the bluntness of everything pulled back the façade of how we act in public vs if you watch a movie at home with a bunch of close friends. Just sitting there watching it, the entire place felt like there was an air of joy through out the theater. One of those cinematic experiences.

I thought it was okay. Not the best QT. That's okay. A little long.

http://www.imdb.com/search/title/?re...e_type=feature That's obviously just a broad example and there were a bunch of independent, small release, art house, whatever you wanna call it films in that time frame - not just '94 , specifically. Technically, it falls probably more in the early 90s, but I remember going to see Reservoir Dogs at the Tivoli. It was either the only theater or 1 of 2 that it played at in KC. I used to go there a ton! Trainspotting, Dream with the Fishes, Crash (the one with Spader and Hunter) and tons of other obscure flicks. Typically, hit up D'Bronx, Mario's, or The Jerusalem Cafe before or after the show on a Friday or Saturday. Good times.

Even if he made $0, you'd jump at the chance to get a part in a QT film.

For those that did not get to see the Roadshow that wanted to see it, The Hateful Eight is being shown in digital format for a week or so before the home media release. Not sure if this is true everywhere, but around here a lot of theaters are showing it that way.

Calling down fire on myself here...but so be it.
We rented it this past weekend, and I fell asleep an hour and twenty minutes into it (I'm not that old, and I wasn't really tired). I thought the dialogue was poorly written and clumsy; very un-Tarantino like. I felt no tension building and nothing held my interest whatsoever. Stone acting and poor pacing killed it for me. Sadly there is nothing compelling me to spend another two hours seeing what I may have 'missed.' Generally speaking I like Tarantino films as they are original as compared to most Hollywood shite, have interesting dialogue and unique characters. The third of the movie I watched had none of this. Perhaps I'm one of 100 that didn't enjoy it, but I expected much more. |

Saw it in 70MM and it was fantastic. The Cinematography was off the charts. It was a little more loose with the dialog than usual for Taratanio.

The fact that Tim Roth's part was so very obviously written for Christoph Waltz was distracting (and if it wasn't written for Waltz, Roth shouldn't have spent the whole movie doing a poor imitation of him). As murder mysteries go, it was never terribly compelling. As character driven movies go, I never gave a large rat's ass what happened to any of them. Beyond story and on to execution, the dialogue wasn't nearly as sharp as his best stuff. And maybe the digital version I saw just didn't do justice to what he was trying to accomplish but I wasn't impressed by the visuals either. What we got was a cut-rate Reservoir Dogs set in the reconstruction era west. Oh yeah, all while saying '****er' a lot. Like...a whole ****ing lot. Like, enough to where it become genuinely repellent despite the fact that Tarnatino movies use ****er like commas by and large, they just generally do so much more artfully than this one did. I didn't dislike this movie, I just didn't like it.
