Luke was the last and by all accounts, he's been gone for 30 years.
Hmm, I guess I'm not very educated on the subject. I've actually never seen the original trilogy in its entirety, although I plan to watch it here in the next couple months. If Yoda was the last of the Jedi and he was in a self-imposed exile, who sent Luke there to train with him? I just figured, since the force hasn't changed, there'd always be Jedi and Sith.

In any case, it'd be a reasonable expectation that Luke would restore the Jedi order after destroying the Sith, would it not?

In the EU, which has now been discarded, Luke did reform the order and train many apprentices. Kasdan and Abrahms have decided to go a different way with Luke in a self-imposed exile, and new group of darksiders led by a Sith-lore enthusiast.

Could be good, could be shit; we'll see.

I'd recommend watching the OT in order to answer your questions.

That's a spoiler, since you haven't seen the OT.

The legend was that there would be someone that would bring "Balance" The Force. In Episode I, there were tens of thousands of Jedi but only two Sith Lords (although there were other Force users at the time, who weren't aligned with either the Jedi or the Sith). It was out of balance.

By the end of Episode VI, there was only one Jedi and no Sith.

The Jedi and Sith use The Force in different ways. They're different disciplines, two sides of the same coin. But that doesn't mean that other disciplines don't or won't exist.

Yes and no. If Luke knew of his father's destiny, which was to bring balance to the Force, Luke may have stopped using The Force altogether, but that's just speculation.

Episode VII will provide the answer to that question.

So I know that Ahsoka is in the new Rebels series. Is all of the Clone Wars canon, or was it abandoned with the EU?

Just curious if the Witches of Dathomir and Nightsisters and such actually exist in this universe.

No no no. No easy way out for answers for you. You plop your ass down in front of whichever device you want to watch these movies on and get to it. All will be answered.

Maybe I should re-watch the prequels as well before I watch the original trilogy for the first time?

You could probably get by skipping Epi II, and your brain would thank you.

Didn't you hear? Jar Jar took over when Yoda died and is now the master Jedi. He may be in hiding just like when Yoda

Nah. Think of it this way, most people over the age of 25 saw the original trilogy without having seen the prequels at all. They don't particularly add to the experience.

Actually if someone hadn't seen any of them, I'd still recommend that they just watch them in the order they were released.

When does the next season of Rebels kick off? Vintage Vader is giving me wood.

I've already seen 'Lothal'

I believe in October. It's considered part 2 of Season 2. I think the season finale ends up being a week or 2 before VII hits theatres.
