Star Wars: Rebels

And here's our replacement for Clone Wars. Coming to Disney XD in fall 2014. Bridges the gap between Eps 3 and 4. Looks...very cool. Conceptually.

Bit more detail:

The series will mine material from the 19 years that follow Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and precede the Episode IV: A New Hope. In other words, using the life of the Skywalker twins as a measure, the series will be active in the story years that come after their separation as newborns and before their (unwitting) reunion on the prison level of the Death Star.

No word on whether the show will feature Darth Vader (who would be in the Empire’s power consolidation years and earning his reputation) or even pull in a character like Han Solo, the smuggler and cynic who becomes an unlikely freedom fighter when he opts to stand with his friends against cosmic odds. The title of the show is vaguely phrased in a way that any rebel — even a Boba Fett or Ahsoka Tano might qualify as a title character merely by walking an outsider’s path.

The series has three executive producers: Dave Filoni, the point man on The Clone Wars animated series that launched in 2008; screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg, who has a flair for tonal rewiring and energizing familiar brands with new edge (e.g.: X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes); and Greg Weisman, whose credits include well-regarded work on Young Justice and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Is it weird I was kinda bummed that they might have killed him off so quickly before he was repaired? I think I like his and Chopper's banter better than R2 & C3P0.

Rebels is very much following The Clone Wars.. starts off slow, but each season gets better and ramps up to the juicer plotlines.

Supposedly, the finale "changes everything".

We'll see...

Maul is Snoke.

Hates the Sith, fears the Skywalkers.

When I saw "call me old master", I knew right then and there the tie-in was complete, and the deal done.

I posted a tweet from Pablo Hidalgo from LucasFilm in the Episode VIII thread in which he stated that neither Snoke nor Kylo Ren had ever been a Sith, which also rules out Plagueis.

My money is still on the Grand Inquistor until proven otherwise.

It's possible the inquisitor made it out and would explain Snoke's disfigurement, but the fire AND the explosion of the Star Destroyer?

That's a fairly tall order.

Well, he is severely disfigured and it appears that he fits the body type requirement.

Anakin's whole body was on fire, lost half an arm and both his legs below the knees and can't breathe or see without the help of robotics, yet he lived for 40+ years after the duel with Obi Wan.

I have a hard time believing that Snoke is a brand new character that leads the First Order, knew Vader and Palpatine, was around during the Clone Wars and seemingly has Force abilities.

Snoke is clearly damaged. We know that Iridonians live much longer than humans, by at least 100 or more years.

If you look at Maul's clone wars activities, it becomes apparent that he has a fairly masterful mind for manipulation and organization as well as being an above average warrior. We now know that he did survive Sidious, and got away from him.

And if you listen to Maul's "new" voice and compare it to Snoke's, things get really interesting.

I submit that Maul was again badly damaged to the point of reconstructive surgery and the permanent loss of his horns, somewhere between Rebels and TFA, and has assumed the identity of 'Snoke'.

Or, Maul will be killed by Vader at the end of this season.

The tweet from Pablo ruled it out.

He's the guy that does the Star Wars Visual Dictionary books and has no reason to lie.

I love the character of Maul and I'm happy that Filoni and Kinberg brought him back to life in The Clone Wars and Rebels but there's no way he's Snoke.

He's the wrong species, has "real" legs, as opposed to mechanical legs, doesn't have horns, isn't from Dathomir, etc.
