Maybe so - but the sound of 80's metal is coming back and going to be the next wave O cool. Believe that.

Only because they haven't listened to "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it, "Baby I'm worth it."

A lyrical MASTERPIECE!

And sampling the theme from The Munsters? BRILLIANT!

Maybe so, but not in my world. I don't have a problem with well executed pop music. Soft synths, drum machines, Maschine and all the NI products are incredible in the right hands, such as Dr. Luke or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry. It's not my trip, per se, but it's fine.

The problem is the mindless looping and droning with dumb phrases, sampling and raps. It's no different than bad country or rock much but because computers are readily available to anyone, anyone and everyone can make junk music. You don't even need to be able to play an instrument or have any musical knowledge, whatsoever. Drop and drag loops, plug in a mic and start talking or hell, don't even sing or rap, just call it "EDM".

I don't deny that there's a lot of shit music on the radio today. The issue is that you only remember the good stuff from 30 years ago because all the shit isn't around anymore.

It's kind of the same thing with SNL. If you watch a current episode, most of them are pretty "meh," but you look back at years past and think about how good things were. But if you really go in and watch an old episode from (insert your favorite era here), you'll see that there was plenty of crap still - it's just that none of that makes it onto the Best Of episodes.

I don't listen to the radio much, but there's a ton of great music being created out there if you get out and look for it.

Well, there is a lack of great rock music being made today. Record labels are only concerned with the under 21 crowd and therefore, tailor their signings for that age group, most of which is dominated by Electronic and Electronic Dance Music (EDM).

I get why the Foo Fighters are so popular, which is mainly because they're the only real rock band left, but I think that Sonic Highways was a very weak release compared to Wasting Light, which was very good when compared to Echoes Silence Patience Grace. None of their releases even come close to The Colour and the Shape, IMO.

All of that said, young people aren't interested in new rock music. If they were, bands would be signed and promoted. That just isn't happening.

I am on a mission to fix this situation. I am seeing to it that my boys are interested in new rock music. Their taste in music is already rather impressive. Now I need to make sure that they are as charismatic as their father so their peers will want to listen to the same stuff. Boom. Rock is on its way back.

I absolutely agree with you regarding the Foo Fighters. The Colour and the Shape was incredible & they haven't done anything close to that since.
