VFW to boycott Chiefs etc

Apparently VFW halls are going to boycott any team that protest during the national Anthem.

I have heard that the Chiefs and Seahawks stood with their arms locked together instead of with their hands on their chests as a symbol of solidarity with Kaep. So, basically, it was a protest.

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters raised his fist, four Miami Dolphins players knelt, and players from several other teams interlocked arms or raised their fists as an apparent sign of unity with Kaepernick, who began his protest last month during the NFL's preseason over what he said was the oppression of "black people and people of color."

I think both teams were treading a fine line being a tad coy with their message.

As best I can divine, their message was;

teammates differed in their responses
doing nothing would stifle those who wished to protest
linking arms was served the somewhat conflicting purposes of doing something, remaining respectful, acknowledging differences on the team, but most importantly acting in unity as a team.

The basic message was 'we recognize that some people wish to do something to protest the appearance of the flag and the sound of the anthem. We also recognize that that some wish to show their respect as much or more than ever. So we're acting as a team in a neutral manner to show that unity among us overrides individual preferences.'

I had no idea that the Chiefs thing would be considered a protest, other than Marcus Peters apparently putting himself above the team.

Now, we're not even sure who is protesting what, or if what we're seeing is even a protest. These protesters will hopefully be more clear in the future so we all know what to be outraged at and how outraged we should be.
