Eating food past the "best by" date. Do you?

As you can tell by my CP handle, I'm a fan of thrill seeking, risk-taking and general daredevilism when there's a carefully planned approach.

I just ate yogurt with an August 10 date on the side.

It was as single-serve, unopened Chobani Blueberry that was in my fridge the entire time I've owned it. Visual inspection showed some clear liquid at the top, smell was normal, taste was normal.

What's your take? Daredevil factor from 1-10 (1 being wet-Charmin safe and 10 being "hold my beer") am I going to live?

BTW do you eat food past the due date? What's your policy?

Antifreeze? That's a little harsh isn't it? Next time you feel gassed up stick an ice pick up your ass.

Of course! That is why it is a "best by" date....

I give it the smell test and no item is quite the same so some rot/mold quicker than others but you'd be cheating yourself if you threw out anything 'old'

People waste so much good food because of those labels...

Smell it. If it passes that, then give it a little taste.

Yeah, I mean, yogurt is kind of like cottage cheese, in so far as it's fermented through bacterial fermentation...

As long as it isn't moldy, you should be okay.

The stuff that I always struggle with are the "new rules apply after you've opened it" kinds of things. For example, apparently salsa expires a month or two after you open it. Apparently I've either never let it go that long or have eaten it long past that anyway.

Merely a suggestion. I’m sure Monsanto has all of our best interests in mind.

What have you got against Round Up, Aspartame, Agent Orange, Dioxin, DDT and PCBs?

That's to ensure that the drug retains its potency.

If you're taking tablets, they're usually good for years. Capsules, you should be more judicious about throwing out past their expiration. Don't store your medicine in the bathroom, and pay attention to which meds need to be stored in a dark place (especially nitroglycerin, which should be disposed of after 6 months).
