Windows 11

Has Microsoft removed the TPM requirement from Windows 11? My old Windows 10 computer (Phenom 2 X6) which definitely doesn't support TPM is now asking to update to 11. I have the feeling that if I were to select Yes, my computer would be not operable when completed.

Anyone else seen this on their 'older' systems?

I just don't keep up on all of this MS Stuff...

Still Cray-Z...

If it won't support Win11, it will give you a message before install that tells you so. It won't install Win11 on a machine that doesn't support it and result in a broken system.

If the OS upgrade doesn't work, you can always follow these instructions to create a USB installer that will bypass all TPM requirements: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/...pm-requirement

Thanks, I've worked with computers since forever... I'm not sure why I got the message about installing Windows 11. I just reimaged the drive after there was an issue with old software and startups.

Don't care for what MS is doing. We don't have control of our computers. If only they would give us the software, then we could manage our own computers. Right now, our computers are controlled by someone else.

I think it's time to install Unix or one of the variants. After all, they have Windows emulation and Directx libraries.

I'd be 100% Linux (I use Mint & Kali distros) if I didn't enjoy gaming so much.

One thing about the Linux OS is that small mistakes can have "A butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazonian jungle, and subsequently a storm ravages half of Europe." tendency while Windows is much more forgiving.

If you ever wonder how not in control you are of your computer running Windows try turning off the telemetry data.
