Clark Hunt is a nice guy

Kansas City Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, along with general manager John Dorsey flew to Atlanta on Monday to meet with safety Eric Berry and his family. Berry is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for lymphoma.

“We sat for about two hours with Eric and it was just a wonderful time,” Dorsey said. “I just want to reassure everybody that he’s doing great. He looks great.”

Berry is going through treatment at the Emory Lymphoma Program at Emory's Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.

“I can’t say enough for Clark for taking that day off in his busy schedule to go down there and see Eric,” Dorsey said. “It just shows you that that the organization—he’s one of us. I just wanted him to know that and Clark wanted him to know that as well.”

While Eric continues this fight away from the field, those who can recall the way he approached his battles on the field can understand the determination he’ll attack this treatment with.

“Eric is the ultimate competitor,” Dorsey said. “He was in really good spirits.”

Shit.

I was hoping they'd caught Berry's lymphoma enough that they could use radiation therapy to treat it. Maybe the mass is close enough to his heart that takes that off the table, but damn...

Not what I was hoping to hear.

Clark? Busy schedule?

I admit that I know nothing about what it's like to have as much money as Clark does, but what exactly does he do with his time normally? Like, is owning the Chiefs not his full-time job? Is he just attending elite Inner Circle meetings all day or what?

I would hope that he would have the time to fly down to Atlanta for 24 measly hours to visit with his cancer-ridden franchise player. Sheesh. If anybody in that organization doesn't have any time to do that kind of stuff right now, it should be John Dorsey.

He's a private equity guy. The Chiefs is just one of his jobs. Running the Hunt's non-oil/gas investment portfolios is a full time gig (hell, he may have a hand in the oil/gas side of things for them but I've never read anything that says he does).

He's the chairman of their family organization. I don't know if it is still a trust or if the trust has been executed, but they've got a ****assload of businesses that he has to watch over.
