Cards vs. Royals weekend series

Question for the Royals fans. You want to keep the discussion in your daily game threads or do you just want to keep us Cardinal fans out of "your" threads?

or start a shared thread?

This is looking like the best time in our history that both of our teams have been playing at this high of a level when we played each other.

We went to the NCLS last year and you went to the WS but we were playing like shit when we played. This year we have the best record in baseball and you guys are just one game behind that record, correct?

Bring it on. May the best team win.

What benefits would those be? I'm pretty sure we will sell out or pretty close to it every game this weekend. I'm certain that Busch will be full when we come there too.

No, it most definitely would not. I don't think you get how severely annoying it is to watch an NL game from our perspective.

What's a real rivalry? The Cubs mean nothing to me.

The Cards? Okay. Intrastate and 1985 and all that.

A "real" rivalry is cultivated over many years. You don't switch leagues and say "You're our rival cubbies".

I've lived within a mile or two of the Rays stadium for the last 5 years. But, become a fan? Thought never entered my mind.

For better or worse, I'll always be a fan of the same teams that I've been a fan of since before kindergarten.
I grew up a KC fan. Once I got through college and moved all over the country I stayed a KC fan...until the strike. Then I hated baseball and did not watch it. I moved to STL in 2001. Baseball there is like a drug you can't shake. I got caught up in all of that and became a fan of baseball again..and a fan of the Cardinals.
Today, I am wearing my Cardinals jersey and my Royals hat.
Tomorrow, I wear the Royals jersey and the Cardinals hat.
When they play each other, I cheer for the team that is batting.
But, I have to say...Cardinals baseball is like no other.

That's my point. Instead of selling out a weekend series. You would sell out 30 games and create more excitement in the fan base.

Bush is always full regardless of the team.

I think our fanbase is plenty excited as it is, thank you very much.

That would be cool and all, but it wouldn't have been sellouts during the shitty years... just more years of 20k in Cardinal red and the usual 8k die-hard Royals fans there.

Success is by far the biggest indicator of attendance, and it's something that takes two-to-three years to really build up, as we're seeing this season.

You only get 9 or 10 home games against division rivals. We already have 3, so we're talking about an extra 6 or 7, in exchange for the awfulness of NL baseball. (yes, I'm completely ignoring the Cubs, they would not be a "rival")

No, thanks.

I can tell you now if we moved to the NL it sure as hell the Cubs wouldn't have been the other rival it would have been the Rockies. That being said I am glad we are in the American League. No need for two cities in the same state to be in the same league, other than a large state like California. Astros moving to AL was stupid on MLB's part, great to balance the schedule, wrong team. If we want to see a certain NL team drive your butt over to the St. Louis, want to see an AL team drive to KC. AL is superior baseball IMO and besides Kansas City had been an American League city since 1955. Best move Glass made.

I get it. I've always been a NL fan. I understand the strategy argument. I could live with the DH.

We'd already would have had DH for 25 years if the damn Philly owner had commnicated his vote better and cell phones existed.
