Best way to kill off a tree stump?
So when I moved into this house 15 plus years ago the former owner had planted a couple of trees between the sidewalk and the street. Fast forward to last year and the roots had pretty much destroyed my sidewalk so I had them cut down last summer.
Now I have two big stumps that are still alive and I'm getting ready to drop $2500 to have the sidewalk replaced. I drilled a bunch of 1 inch holes in the stumps at the end of the summer and dumped something in the holes, but the beasts are still alive. I would burn the damn things, but the fire department would frown on such an activity. If I was in the country, I would blow them up with dynamite or just make a few pipe bombs to take them out, but obviously the neighbors would become restless when their windows blew out. I checked into having someone come over with a stump grinder and they are WAY to pound of their services. So is their a good chemical out there to take these wooden bastards to the promised land that anyone has had success with? I hear good things about this but I honestly have no idea if this is going to take them out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

well, at least it's less obvious than leaving old motor blocks by the curb covered with leaves...

I still have 10 pounds of it out in the shop. There is a special rock out there in a mountain stream that I'm going to use it on.

I would recommend having several of the beasts from the KC Cheerleader tryouts stare at the stump. I would most likely uproot itself to get away from that horror.

You must be talking about that rock that jumped out of the water and grabbed your ATV! Bastard bent your frame pretty good! Maybe you should slow down and not try to keep up with the big dogs!

I used a skid loader with a big brush attachment yesterday to push back brush around my happy field and to open an area of a couple of acres in my timber to get deer to the killing tree, along with some trails. I'll eventually burn it off to kill the thorns and crap.
I plan to walk through and spray the big stumps with tordon to make sure brushy crap doesn't sprout. I have it on good authority that 6 pounds will not do the job, but 20lbs will bring down. A 6' diameter cottonwood with a chainsaw hole cut in the base. Not r commended in town, because rumor has it it winds people up for a couple of mile radius. |
