I agree. Besides, innocent until proven guilty. Then the NFL should act.

I may think otherwise if it's murder and looks likely to harm a team's moral working with the guy. Unless there's a decent defense or explanation until proven guilty. Like with the Patriot's Hernandez but that was a team decision. And his story wasn't good or his connections either.

Twenty percent of the NFL should be fired due to gang or criminal connections or pasts.

Nothing wrong with being a contractor or construction laborer, its one of the few jobs that depending on size of the company do little drug testing etc...is why I brought it up.

As a hiring manager...I can tell you for a fact, that even contractors are screened with background checks. And it is most certainly a companies business to know who they are hiring.

So a Child Care company should not concern itself with hiring a person that a previous violate crime or child molestation charge/conviction?

It's not any of a Bank's business when hiring a cashier that said person has several embezzlement charges in their past?

News flash ... police in every city make it a point to notify a business when it's employee commits a crime. If they have the time anyway.

Usually they will call under the guise of 'verifying employment' and then let it slip why. They did it all the time with us by talking to our security people.

Then our Asset Protection office tells our personnel manager.

The employee generally gets reviewed and fired.
It's not even committing a crime. Several of the NFLs rules apply even when you're ACCUSED of a crime. And guess what? Many many companies hold their employees to a similar standard. It's a PR thing.

I finally figured out how to put a stop to DV with my ex.

Anytime things were escalating and looked like the situation could turn ugly I would ask a simple question.
"How would you not like to see me for a few days". If that's what she wanted then I'd grant her wish.
Worked every time. Sure enough, after a few days the swelling would go down around her eyes to where she could see me again.

I guess you also think the NFL has no business concerning itself with physical abuse, drunk driving then.
These are legal matters that get played out in the media. The NFL is a huge business that has an image to uphold. If they do not suspend players for conduct that is detrimental to the brand, NFL, then they would be seen as supporting those types of behaviors by many people and lose millions of dollars in revenue.

Most companies have programs that they put you in to give you a chance to change. Once you have proven you will not change you will no longer be employed at that company.
Most of the jobs in this country have some type of drug policy that includes having a urinalysis done to get the job and periodically or if they think it is necessary and that it could result in your termination.

We have a written policy every employee signs when hired that states anytime you are arrested you can potentially be fired regardless of a conviction or charges being filed. You don't automatically get fired but it depends on management review of the situation and circumstances.

No shit.

We have used it a few times to get rid of a few less desirable employees.

I really dont know...that piece is run by HR/Compliance and they tell me whether or not I can offer employment to that individual. I know it's very extensive and can take up to two weeks to complete all the checks my company does. It's very conservative.

If you think this stuff should not done I am curious to know if you believe that a larger number if not most companies are also looking around on Facebook at you and your friends, your emergency contacts, your references, and so on to see what you and your friends post about. They are trying to get a better idea of the person that they are hiring.
