Denver Broncos Peyton Manning fined $8,268 for taunting Texans safety D.J. Swearinger

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been fined $8,268 for his taunting penalty at Saturday's game against the Houston Texans, according to NFL.com and CBS Sports. Manning was called for the penalty after yelling at Texans safety D.J. Swearinger, after Swearinger hit Wes Welker in the head. Manning confirmed to ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Thursday that the NFL has notified him of an $8,268 fine. Mortensen reported that Manning told him, "I accept it. Money well spent." Mortensen said the fine's amount was determined by the league's fine schedule for unsportsmanlike conduct. After the game, Manning was asked what he said to Swearinger. He said he couldn't repeat it. But he said Swearinger responded, "Thanks. I appreciate it. Good luck to you, as well." Manning said he doesn't remember ever getting a penalty for taunting. However, he added, "I think if you’re going to get one, that’s a good time to get one." Welker suffered a concussion from the hit. It's his third concussion since November. Tuesday, Broncos head coach John Fox said Welker is doing "fantastic in the process. We’ll take it one day [at a time], and [he had] another positive day today." |

Well isn't Payton a tough-guy! That being said, his point isn't lost. And **** the NFL for stiffing people with a fine for things like that.

I don't know how accurate this is because I just googled it and took the first answer that came up:
Answer Manning signed a 7 year contract worth 99.2 million dollars in 2004. That would make his 'average' yearly salary over 14 million dollars and his average regular season game salary almost 900 thousand dollars. So he gets paid something like 15k a minute for a regular season game that doesn't go into OT. He was fined for about 30 seconds of a game check. |
