What is this tampering nonsense?

What in the actual **** does tampering have to do with a trade of a player?

Tampering is a team directly or indirectly making a statement publicly or contacting a player and or his agent about becoming a member of their team, when the said player is set to enter free agency, before teams are allowed to legally talk to them.

This is between the Rams and Chiefs front offices in a trade deal...

We knew the entire deal when the Chiefs traded for Alex Smith a month before it could be announced. We know the deal between the Chiefs and the Redskins for Alex Smith now. Which team is getting docked for tampering? None.

We already know Peters has been unofficially traded to the Rams. We don't know what we are getting in return because who the **** knows why. What we do know is that there is no connection between agreeing to trade a player with another team and ****ing tampering.
