What happens with Eric Berry's cap number if he is unable to play in 2015?

Consensus is the team gets flexibility on how to pay him if the Non-Football Injury designation is used. I think they can absolve most of his cap number.

Whatever they agree to pay him is counted against the cap. If they pay him nothing there is no cap charge. Delicate situation.

You save five million by cutting Bowe this year or $11 if you designate him as Post-June 1, but then you have another $6 million dead money in 2016. Even though his money isn't guaranteed it still counts against the cap.

You would save five by cutting Hali, where his dead money would be $6 million

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-ci...fs/tamba-hali/

So, say you designate both as Post-June 1 cuts. You'd save around $14 million for this year, giving you about $7 million in cap room, which could probably get you Houston if you gave him a huge signing bonus and a low base salary for the first year or two. Then, he would quickly carry a massive cap number because you paid for him with the credit card.

That would also cause you to carry about $10 million in dead cap money onto 2016.

Cut Daniel, Fasano, Avery, and put Berry on the NFI. That gives you 13-15 million. Now, you have to replace multiple players in the secondary, get a backup TE, bring in another QB in all likelihood (because Bray and Murray...LOL).

But hey, maybe we can afford to bring in a Maclin type, let's---oh wait.

Rodney Hudson needs to get paid, too, 4/5 of our starting OL ****ing sucks, and they will need to find, at minimum, two new starters for that unit too.

I will never forget that long TD pass in the playoffs. For a few minutes, I was very happy in life. Thanks for the memories, Donnie.

Exactly. I think they had to have ****ed up the cap when they got here. The question is, did they do it on purpose. Denver makes many more and more expensive signings every year, but they're not having this problem.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

And with that, whatever symbolic value Jenkins had for the Jon Baldwin pick is now gone.

You can officially call that one a bust.
