This loss shows deeper problems than a few players

The way that we lost this game speaks to more than just a couple of players or plays.
This loss speaks to problems deep within. I think we have severe problems within our coaching staff if not further up than that.
We are spiraling down and it appears to be untenable to the staff we have in place even with the help of a bye week.
I have always been a Reid fan, but a lot of the problems he had in Philly have followed him to KC. His play calling, inadequate game prep, stubbornness, strategy, clock management. His inability to make coaching changes and bring his family in and unwillingness to move on from them when they are obviously not working are problems that we all now face as well. There is a lot of parallels between our staff here and the ones he had in Philly.
If we are to change our losing ways some of this staff is going to have to be replaced. Where do start? Who are the coaches/assistants that need to be replaced? Even now instead of waiting until the off season.

The Raiders are getting spanked by New England. The Chargers always beat themselves. The Broncos have no QB. This division can can be won by the Chiefs. They have issues but can still adjust. They are in a good position.

I'd tend to disagree. It's more of a combination of roster/draft decisions and injuries. Dorsey and Reid built a roster of average players with a few stars mixed in, a number of people have been/are/will be out, and neither line is anything above average.

I said this when they were on their win streak: the Chiefs are an average team. At full strength on given week they can win or lose to anybody. And they ain't at full strength.

The Giants were also playing for pride today. I don't think that can be underestimated.

In no way do these comments mean I like or support the actions or philosophy of the coaching staff. I'm just saying I don't think today's loss was preparation or coaching. Nor any of the others, nor the win streak. I think they're mutually exclusive problems. I think this franchise is going to be stuck in this mediocre 8-11 win quagmire with no potential for meaningful success as long as Andy Schottenheimer is running the show. But I don't think all of today's or recent losses' issues are coaching. I think it goes deeper.

This is just the 90's again. We'll compete for or win the division annually, sometimes despite ourselves, then get dumped in January by actual playoff quality teams.

The Chiefs easily score on their first drive if Smith hits this throw.

Or this one.

Andy Reid is not an issue with our offense. He's NEVER had any offensive issues in the NFL for the most part. He's a ****ing LEGENDARY offensive coach. He has HALL OF FAME offensive credentials.

Until he ran into Alex Smith.

Link the final INT where he had Reek streaking 5 yards behind the DB while you're at it

is there anyone with a FB coaching background that that explain what other teams are doing and what we are doing different between our 5-0 start and our current 1-4 slump?

I love your confidence. Maybe you can send some good vibes out to the so called fans. Chiefs will turn it around.

You call him Andy Schottenheimer which says to me that you do think that there is a coaching problem. You also mention it goes deeper. I would like to hear what you mean by deeper.

I said it back then, when you have one of your "stars" above the lowly task of tackling, it will cave the effort and moral of the whole team. They don't have to give it all.

When Tyreek Hill says in an interview that the team isn't totally focused (or something similar to that) then you have a problem

While this is obviously true, we’re not in real danger of losing the division beyond 2017 also. If Mahomes can give us what we think he can, we get Berry back, and we can use the worthless cap space we have in our old vets on younger players at positions of need we can easily keep control of the division.

2017 is done. No need to panic beyond that yet though IMO.

That's the issue with these true fans. Chiefs will win the awful division, lose in typical fashion in the playoffs and then true fans will say "they made the playoffs, that's a good season"
