I've got zero problems with this if it's what the family wanted. Everyone mourns in their own way.

no problem with it, funerals are for the mourning family
as long as there isn't any necrophiliac stuff going on ... who cares what people do with funerals of their loved ones.

In a lot of ways if the person died on their terms and in a normal fashion, a party could be the right way to go about it. Make it a celebration of life itself rather than a sad mourning. Especially for those who are religious. Isn't going to their heaven something that should be celebrated by friends and family rather than selfishly looking at it as a sad moment because they're no longer with people in the human world?
