Adam Silver is the best commissioner in sports

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13...-telecasts-699

Quote:
NBA fans who want to watch out-of-market games that are not on national television can now do so by the game.

The league announced Wednesday that, for the first time, fans can pay $6.99 to buy any NBA game next season. Fans will be able to watch the game on broadband for computers, tablets and mobile devices. It is not clear which television distributors will participate in offering single games.

In the past, fans could only buy all out-of-market games for the season, but this year, the league is also offering a team package, where a fan who lives out of the primary market can get all the team's games for $119.99.

The price for the full League Pass -- which has been available since 1994 -- will remain $199.99, but even NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in March at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference that "most people don't want to consume that many games."

There are no immediate plans to sell pieces of games, like to allow a fan to buy the last couple of minutes of a game by clicking on a link within their Twitter or Facebook timeline, but that could be something the league will look at in the future, one team source said.

The pricing announced is for U.S. fans only. League Pass is available in more than 200 countries, according to the NBA.
I wish the ****ing NFL would do this. I'd pay $20 a game to watch Chiefs games and Chiefs games only.

I found this on Playstation's website. It's only available in select locations, and specifically to Directv subscribers. Since Directv is unavailable in my region, it's moot.

I was willing to pay a decent amount to Directv for their streaming only package like they have done in the past for non-customers. However, they cut that off last year to pretty much everybody. But there is a different solution if you don't mind streaming on your computer.

NFL Gamepass is $100 for the season but technically only available to people outside of the US. However, if you install something like Hola in your internet browser (or use VPN) and change your location to somewhere like Romania, it will allow you to purchase the package and watch the games. It's what I did last year and plan to do it again this year. I begged the douchebags at Directv to give them money and they didn't want it, so screw them.

Roger Goodell just announced that you can watch every game for $6.99. But only if you live in London. If you are caught hitting women, you will have that privileged revoked. BUt you can renegotiate to getting games for $8 per game arbitrarily.

The NHL got sued and that was part of their settlement, so the NBA is getting out in front of it.

Can't imagine the NFL would do this. People are nuts about football. The people eager enough to buy just Chiefs games would pay for the whole package just to get them. The NFL knows it, and they wouldn't do anything that would result in earning less money.

Isn't MLB getting rid of blackout restrictions for at least MLB tv?

It's at least a good start.

He may be the best commissioner, but he has an inferior product to the NFL and MLB.

I skipped the DTV Sunday Ticket this year. Not spening $300 just to watch the Chiefs games. Really is sad as they'd make money on someone like me willing to pay $100-150 for Chiefs games but the former is way too much and silly.

MLB is probably in danger since they use regional stations, too... the NFL isn't, so I doubt they'll change until at least everyone else does.

Not true.

If you dislike basketball, that's fine. But that doesn't make the product inferior.

I don't dislike basketball at all. IMO, the NBA regular season is the worst of the big 3. Too many horrible teams making too many games unwatchable.

$20 per game is too much.

$20 per game x 16 games = $320

Sunday ticket (no max) is

41.99 x 6 payments = $251.94

If I could pay a per game rate for the games that are on Sunday ticket, That would be fine.

16 weeks X 10 games a week =160 games /251.94 = 64 cents per game.

I could pay 64 cents per game to see the ones I want.

With that said, the NBA plan sounds like a good idea. Didn't it also say that division winners may not make the playoffs? HMMMMMM. the NFL should do that 8-8 makes the playoffs yet 10-6 and 11-5 does not
