Not at all, but not recognizing the scheme you're in and knowing the EDGE is the OLB responsibility (which was set) and not yours is an issue.

They got in a little different front and had more success but defensive is so much about assignments and everyone doing theirs. You get guys start doing a little more and shooting a gap and such, it can lead to big plays and or problems.

Chris Jones can play DE in a 4-3 and attack the QB all he wants.

Jones,Williams,Nnadi,Houston

I would think this Defensive line would be solid against the run but also be able to rush the passer.

Total team stat, the ONLY stat that is an ACCURATE REFLECTION of where a defense truly lies in the grand scheme of things, currently has us ranked at #30. AND WE ARE PLAYING EXACTLY LIKE THAT.
Of course, that's a BIG step up from #32 just three weeks ago, so let's all chip in and drop-ship ol' Bobby Buttons a fresh new case of Metamucil for Christmas!
If Wilson has the ability to go score for score with Mahomes, then there is VERY MUCH a chance of losing that game. ANY TEAM that can match the production of the Chiefs offense, has every chance in the world to beat them.
And this isn't some fantastical daydream I made up, it's a stone-cold and PROVEN FACT as demonstrated by both the Patriots and the Rams.
And Bob-O Buttons has led the charge with his "going downhill since 2015"-brand of "defensive coordinating". It's been slow and steady, but it definitely picked up speed in 16 and 17, then hit lightspeed this season.

Bob's Earth? We're scorching that bitch when this season comes to an end.
This is rich, coming from the camp that thinks a new DC will fix all of our problems. We have a talent problem on D that's been declining since we started applying more cap to offensive positions and were anchored with Berry, Hali, DJ and Houston's salaries during the last 3 year stretch. The production is not near where it needs to be for the salaries being paid during that stretch to those players. On the bright side, we are giving up 18.6 points a game at home and this will be tested Thursday night against the LA Dolts.

I have no problem if we fire Sutton at the end of the year, but folks on here comparing it to the Vikings firing their OC and we should do the same, or folks thinking that a new DC will solve our problems, truly don't understand the level of talent we have on the field every week.

Knowledgeable people on a weekly basis review film and point out clear deficiencies and absolutely idiotic strategy being used. How is that not indicative of a coordinator who is past his prime and is a huge problem for the team?

Do you really not understand that that clip precisely illustrates my point?

Ragland did exactly what you're asking him to do. He decided when that ball was snapped that he was going after the runningback. By your nonsensical parlance he 'attacked'.

When his job was to read the alignment and the run action. All he had to do was his friggen job but instead he took himself OUT of the gap he was supposed to be in.

What exactly can Bob Sutton do from a schematic standpoint to stop his ILB from simply taking himself out of the play despite 2 or 3 obvious reasons why he shouldn't have done so. That play perfectly demonstrates that from a schematic perspective, Sutton had that thing taken care of. He had the outside contain and had a guy ready to fill the gap.

His friggen linebacker freelanced, as they have done time and time again this year. And in so doing, he blew apart the structure of the play and left a wide-open middle. It was just completely asinine.

Some people refuse to admit that our defensive coaching staff is a big part of the problem. Our players might not be great but they are better than this. We could change assignments to fit our player's talents better and our defense would improve immediately. Safety is our biggest personnel need, Parker and Sorenson are terrible. We should have bit the bullet and kept Lucas out there while he learned. He should be solid by now. Berry and Lucas would be a decent duo for the playoffs.

Idiotic strategy? Like the clip a few post back... The clip shows Jones in the wrong position pre-snap, which gets Hitchens out of position, then Raglund tries to play the hero instead of filling his gap and taking on the puller, Parker is way slow to react to the run and tries to 'ole the block from the TE. This is not Sutton's scheme, it's poor play. You going to sub in an undersized undrafted Niemann over Raglund? Ok, but the results won't be much different. We have seen similar mistakes from the back ups at safety and nickel. Also, we actually played the run better with Jones out on Sunday. We have a huge talent problem. I'm all for letting Sutton go at the end of the year, but a DC isn't going to make a huge difference with scheme with this talent. We have backups starting in some key positions.

He was to ATTACK the QB, the edge was set. If he attacked the QB (as it's his responsibility) That play nearly causes less damage then it did.

Man. That Twitter clip is alarming when it comes to Chris Jones. It's obvious that both LB's are yelling at him to slide over and Hitchens then gives him the universal signal by tapping him and Jones still doesn't budge. JFC.

That's a player making his own decision and refusing to play sound team defense. That's ****ing irritating and that's not on Sutton.

Really makes me wonder how often Jones goes rogue like that.

Let's see the film review then.

I see one piece of video posted in the last few minutes that clearly shows the personnel not correctly executing the scheme. WEEKLY, I see dozens of Twitter posts about players on this defense not doing their jobs. Funny how I see very little criticism of Sutton in all of it, other than here.

I hope you guys get your wish and Sutton gets fired. I just can't wait to hear you constantly bitch about the talent next.

Because let's be clear - this isn't about Sutton, it's about YOU and your constant need to complain.
