Under Armour doesn't work any better than your standard long underwear in my opinion. Under Armour is a product of great marketing... I bought some cause several people told me it was the best warmest stuff in the world and worth the price. It wasn't.

I agree with you regarding their standard "Cold Gear".

Have you tried the 3.0 line?

Way warmer than long underwear, cold gear, etc. Not even close.

I like wearing under armor (or, more specifically, generic under armor style) shirts and compression shorts under my soccer clothing. I like the way it makes my shorts and shirt slide on my body instead of getting stuck on sweaty skin.

I'm going to have to disagree.

I've tried a bunch of different types of socks while skiing and the only ones I've ever truly thought made a difference were my red under-armors.

Skiing is something of an ultimate test of cold-weather gear, IMO. You have extremely cold temperatures, moisture, physical exertion and a lot of different twists/turns for the clothing (all over a fairly long period of time).

They definitely make a difference in overall warmth when you're skiing. Better still, they're not nearly as thick as the wool socks so you still get plenty of feel in the boot and it makes for better control in the process. I also love my knock-off compression shirt. I use it for fall softball (and wore just it under my Dawson jersey at the game last night). They worked great.

To each their own, but I think the underarmor stuff is great.

What is it about them that makes them better though? The reason I ask is because I looked at the materials on my Under Armour thermals. They consist of a combination of acrylic, nylon, and spandex. Guess what my $15 Cabelas thermal underwear are made of? Acrylic, nylon and spandex. The compression aspect of the Under Armour is greater, but I still can't say a notice a huge difference in performance when out hunting. Especially not enough to justify spending 3 times the money on them.

I haven't tried out the socks. I have several nice pairs that do just fine for me and my feet hardly ever get cold.

I bought a private label turtleneck compression shirt from Cabela's, and it is close to the same, but the Under Armour is definitely more comfortable.

Under Armour produces high quality clothing. That's why I buy it.
