Hunt only member to vote against LA moves, St. Louis market opens for Chiefs

Chiefs will market in St. Louis
Posted by Mike Florio on January 23, 2016, 12:54 PM EST

Two weeks ago, Missouri had two NFL teams. It now has one. And the one still left hopes to draw fans from the other side of the state.

But the Kansas City Chiefs will tread lightly in St. Louis, out of respect for a fan base still recovering from the relocation of the Rams.

“I’ve gotten texts and emails from fans saying I’m now a Chiefs fan, and we appreciate all that,” team president Mark Donovan said, via Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star. “But we’re going to take a strategic approach to that — we’re going to be respectful. They’ve been through a really tough process. We’re going to continue to do what we do, and we think with the success we’re having on the field and the success we’re having off the field, it creates a great opportunity for us.”

The Colts also have welcomed Rams fans to Indianapolis, and the Chiefs hope that their games will be televised more frequently in the now-vacant market.

“We’re in conversations right now with the league on how the league’s going to look at that, and we’ll make our case there,” Donovan said.

Coincidentally (or not), Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was the only member of the Committee on L.A. Opportunities to vote against allowing the Chargers and Raiders sharing space in Carson. Which opened the door for letting the Rams leaves St. Louis for Los Angeles.

Word is that he was the only one who voted against the raiders and chargers going to la and voted for the rams to go. reading comprehension must not be your strong suit, and writing thread tours must not be the op's strong suit

Right. Peter King reported that Hunt voted against the Carson project because he didn't believe that LA could support three teams. He felt it was one or none.

But his voting against the Carson project did not "open the door" to the Rams moving to LA, as he was outvoted 5-1.

The other owners were blown away by Kroenke's presentation, whereas the Carson project was just "meh".

Jerry Richarson backed Carson big time and since it was so lackluster, his "power" in league circles has been dramatically reduced.

Looks like the Governor's Cup stays with the Chiefs.

I think Clark, as well as kroenke and the rest of the world, knew what was going to happen when Carson got shut down.

The rams were leaving. They have been all along, no matter the vote.

But the point is is that we DO know Clark voted against Carson even though the vote was private. Which I know isn't exactly your point lmao

I still can't believe that any owner would back the Carson site because it just made zero sense.

The worst part about the Inglewood site is that there's no subway stop nearby, which sucks. Hopefully someday.

And for those that think the Inglewood is run down or shoddy, it's actually growing like crazy. Silicon Beach is nearby, which is driving regentrification.

Hell, Mar Vista is now $750 a square foot. It's nuts.
