****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Tough loss.

Mauk's future is bright but he's green and against an excellent opponent like SC 10/25 ain't gonna cut it.

Being down our best cover corner sure didn't help.

IDK what to even say about the kicking game. It's the third yr in a row we've been plagued by it and not the first time it's cost us a game.

Getting Franklin back for the Ole Miss game is critical. MU is good enough to win the next two w/ Mauk but will need a healthy Franklin for OM and aTm.

Kicking contributed to the loss, but it was a team effort. Giving up a 4th and 15 touchdown in the first OT cost the game every bit as much as a shanked kick. And there were other blown opportunities along the way too.

As for the kicker, they should have known that 45+ was a big gamble before they had him try that first kick that missed. They know he's not reliable at distance. They needed 5 more yards to give him a decent shot. He's been great on kickoffs though.

What I don't get is the bad holds. Is that guy the usual holder or is this due to being down our starting and third-string QBs?

Yes, we are. A few weeks ago, Mizzou fans were really hoping to win one of these last three games. Well, we won two and could/should have won 3. That might make some fans happy.

Of course, if we lose out, folks will be upset, and justifiably so. Tennessee, Ole Miss, and A&M are all tough games. Kentucky should be a win, though.

Gah. Still such a frustrating loss. We had no business losing that game.

Well, here's to these guys rebounding against Tennessee. Get mad and piss pound these bastards. It would feel good.

Tennessee scares me because it seems like it's the one that fans around here have been taking for granted. Hopefully that's not the case with the team. I watched parts of their Georgia and South Carolina games and they looked pretty good at times. I'm glad they're coming to Columbia.

They were in range for him on that drive before a false start penalty. Lots of costly penalties for Mizzou that game.

Blow me.

If that loss wasn't an absolute gut punch for you, you're the shitty fan.

That's the most devastating loss I've ever been a part of as a sports fan. Oh, and we had some serious recruits in town for it, including a nice LB recruit that came when he cancelled his visit to Oregon when Gameday was in town.

The loss was simply the epitome of Mizzou fandome. It distilled what being a Mizzou fan is to it's most pure form - 1 single quarter of absolute skull-****ery, a glimmer of hope, then !@#$ing conversion on 4th and 15 and a missed FG after having 1st and goal from the 8 to win it.

Honestly, just running the replay through my head again and I'm still stunned by it.

No, I'm going to have to repeat myself - **** any Mizzou fan that's criticizing other Mizzou fans for being apoplectic over that loss. If you love your program, that loss should've absolutely rocked you to the core.

I was at home and couldn't even talk to another living being. It wasn't exactly anger, but I was incapable of having civil discourse with anyone for about 30 minutes following the game.

I sat in the parking lot, listened to the Cardinals win a damn World Series game and couldn't bring myself to raise my head.

Had I witnessed the Tyus Edney loss in person, or perhaps been at Arrowhead for either of the 13-3 flameouts, those might have been comparable to the swift kick to the dick I felt there.

But as it stands, nothing's come close.

The hell of it was that the day was just a ****ing blast up to that point. We were in the lot by 8, had the grill rolling all day. I was locked in; had bacon-wrapped venison and cajun shrimp appetizers, did 3 whole chickens for the remainder. Had a bunch of people bring sides/dips, etc... and have a ****ing blast. It would've just been an epic day.

Had they had their asses handed to them from the opening kick the day would've still been a net positive.

But everything was erased by Shaw, Ellington and Bagget.
