This is the thing. You just don't get that many chances in the NFL, and you have to capitalize when you do. He's not only missing EASY touchdown passes, even when he has plenty of time, he's killing drives too. There was a drive during a crucial part of the 4th quarter where he missed Hemingway wide open on a slant that would've been good for at least 7 yds because for some reason, he was afraid to throw it. Hemingway was as open as you can possibly be on a 5yd slant and Smith had a clear window, but pulled the ball down and took a sack. Then on 3rd-and-2, he missed a wide open Hall--again with no pressure--again with a clear window. He absolutely killed a potential game-icing drive because he couldn't make 2 throws your average college QB could make. You're a well below-average NFL QB if you can't make those throws.

I love that we're 8-0. We've already won more games than I thought we would this year. Anything else is just gravy. But Alex Smith is a crappy QB. Kind of like a Matt Cassel, but with the shit-the-bed knob dialed back to about 8 instead of 10.

Smith has always taken a lot of sacks. It's because he can't get his eyes off the rush.

Yes, but, in this game at least, there was a lot of drop back and the rush was there immediately.

That's because the Brown's were blitzing. I will analyze this further later this week. But there were several blitzes where Smith needs to go to his hot and just can't get his eyes off the pass rush.

Alex Smith is going backwards and killing our offense.

Be nice if the O-line could do better than giving up 6 sacks a game.

Some people say we win despite Alex Smith. And I think it can be argued he has held down the fort despite our terrible o-line

It can. But it's also understandable why people get mad about the easy passes that he misses.

Yeah, the one to Fasano today was bad but it was right in front of me and Fasano had a small issue of not fining the ball real quick

If we trade him in the offseason for a mid round pick I'd be fine with that...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

You guys can nitpick, but I'm going to enjoy 8-0 and the rest of the ride into the playoffs. After last season's abortion, I'm giving myself a free pass on picking out corn in the Chiefs inevitable "first round exit" turd sandwich.
