Thanksgiving Eve....Speak up for some REP
Tomorrow Mrs. Blowfish and I are off to Frankfort, KS, where we always go for Thanksgiving Day. Her mom was born there, and one of the old family homesteads is still there. It's a little shack of a house that they cram 60, 70 or more people into for Thanksgiving dinner, then some touch football up at the high school field, then back to the house for dessert.

I've had Thanksgiving in the front seat of my car from a paper plate for many of the last 20 years that I've been married to Mrs. Blowfish. When I was a kid, Thanksgiving meant my Mom and Dad, and me and my two sisters, around the dining room table with the good china, real silverware and crystal, and soft music, and the fireplace here in Stately Wayne Minor, the Blowfish Palace. My dad is gone now, all my family has moved hundreds of miles from KC. I'm the only one left. So for the last 20 years, it's Fankfort. Don't get me wrong, I love Frankfort. It's different, but in some ways, it's much more real, and much more gratifying.

One tradition is, before you are allowed to fill a plate, you must say one thing you are truly grateful for. No joking around. Something that you truly are grateful for over the course of the last year.

So, on this Thanksgiving Eve, tell us all truly one thing you're grateful for in the last year, and I'll rep till I run out of rep.

Here's Mine:

Thank You to the Kansas City Royals for ending 29 years of futility. It was a wonderful baseball season, and I enjoyed it so much, because it reminded me of how much I love baseball.

May sound trivial, but just this morning I got my BT KB to pair. I have an RF KB/Mouse combo and a BT KB/Mouse combo. On one, the mouse worked but the KB woudn't connect. On the other, just the opposite. So I'd been operating my PC with a circa 1995 hard wired KB and mouse. Cleaning up the spread, I decided to give it a fresh shot. Took a couple times and the KB finally paired. Now my desk is wire free. Yay!!!

I am truly thankful for my girlfriend and her boys. They have provided me with meaning, and given me purpose and desire to achieve everything I have this last year. Without them, I don't know where I'd be.

[Knock Wood], the one big problem I don't have a troubleshooting POA for is my HDTV tuner. The drivers are UTD and everything says it's all working fine. Only out of the blue, it stopped tuning in OTA channels [kind the the sine qua non of a tuner, eh?].

So at present, my PC network viewing is through their respective websites.

Would like the HDTV tuner back though, especially on Sundays.

Hey, I'm a nerd and I've yet to win the battle! I use a Plantronics wireless headsets for LYNC and the Cisco VoIP softphone, and I've found that "for no particular reason" the USB dongle quits working in the USB port. The USB port works for anything else, it just quits working for this one USB device. LOL, I'm running out of USB ports!

This is why I stick to networking.

Thankful for all the Lord has allowed me to have and do. Also that my wife and I were able to travel to Phoenix to enjoy Thanksgiving with my mom and dad.
