Life Thanksgiving Eve....Speak up for some REP - Page 3

Tomorrow Mrs. Blowfish and I are off to Frankfort, KS, where we always go for Thanksgiving Day. Her mom was born there, and one of the old family homesteads is still there. It's a little shack of a house that they cram 60, 70 or more people into for Thanksgiving dinner, then some touch football up at the high school field, then back to the house for dessert.

I've had Thanksgiving in the front seat of my car from a paper plate for many of the last 20 years that I've been married to Mrs. Blowfish. When I was a kid, Thanksgiving meant my Mom and Dad, and me and my two sisters, around the dining room table with the good china, real silverware and crystal, and soft music, and the fireplace here in Stately Wayne Minor, the Blowfish Palace. My dad is gone now, all my family has moved hundreds of miles from KC. I'm the only one left. So for the last 20 years, it's Fankfort. Don't get me wrong, I love Frankfort. It's different, but in some ways, it's much more real, and much more gratifying.

One tradition is, before you are allowed to fill a plate, you must say one thing you are truly grateful for. No joking around. Something that you truly are grateful for over the course of the last year.

So, on this Thanksgiving Eve, tell us all truly one thing you're grateful for in the last year, and I'll rep till I run out of rep.

Here's Mine:

Thank You to the Kansas City Royals for ending 29 years of futility. It was a wonderful baseball season, and I enjoyed it so much, because it reminded me of how much I love baseball.

That is an amazing transformation you have begun! I would guess you have drastically cut your carb intake. That can be tough since so many things that taste so good are loaded with carbs. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and just have some more turkey and less 'taters, and you won't have to worry too much about putting some weight back on. Keep up the good work and here's to you living well! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, even the vegans, although I have NO idea what they are looking forward to eating. Carrots? Beans? Anyhow... I am also very grateful for all of you on this site who have been so supportive of me in my battle with cancer. Some of you have gone above and beyond, but even those who have just simply said "hang in there" or some such, I thank each and every one of you. The vast amount of support I am getting has been very unexpected and humbling. I can tell that tomorrow is going to be a great day for me. I wish the same for all of you.

I am truly thankful that my fathers prostate cancer is gone and he is in remission. Hopefully he has beat it for good, but I will take remission for now.

So many things...... Biggest change this year is Im thankful that( other than my wife) I no longer have anyone fo answer to and never plan to again. I love calling my own shots and the easy money that comes with it. **** you coorperate America and Happy Thanksgiving broskis.

My thoughts, prayers and thanks go to all the men and women who will bear arms in a forward position, eat an MRI for Thanksgiving, and look the enemy in the eye (scopes count!) while we whine about the wine. I remember those days, and I'll never forget those who went before me and especially those who are following my failed attempt to bring about world peace. I remember seeing bugs in central America that I thought could be the turkey on turkey-day, but they seemed to think I was the meal that day!

I am truly grateful for my wife and kids. Grateful that this year we were able to finally buy a house and have a place to call our own.

I will have as good a Thanksgiving as I could hope for with more reasons to be thankful than one can know. A few of you knew my wife of 41 years went into heart failure last Saturday suffering A Fib and discovery her mitral valve is shot....thats bad.

Well after a week of in out up down test test and procedures, yesterday they finally stabilized her heart and feel she can come home today. We face surgery in December but going from sitting in my deer stand, getting a text your wife is in Emergency, get to hospital (90 mile drive) on Saturday to bringing her home today is quite the trip.

Thanks to God for healing and blessings to the caregivers everywhere who do such fantastic work every day.

Eat well, give thanks to whomever you thank, and hug someone close to you.
