Many museums are closed on a Monday so be prepared for that.

GBlowfish took me to the Truman Presidential Library and I was blown away. It was fantastic, learned so many things I never knew about Truman, and there was hardly anyone there.

I would go for sure.

Next which may sound funny is the Kansas City Zoo. I really liked it and thought it was laid out nice. It's big. For your kids in their age range, you may want to ask them if they would like to go. I went the first time to KC at 50 years old and had a blast.

I think taking two daughters at their age to the Negro Baseball Museum or WWI would be a waste unless your family splits up for the day and the women go one way while the guys go another. Young girls at that age would get real bored IMHO but you know their likes best so use your best judgement.

Lastly, We were going to go to Arthur Bryant's but the line out the door had us go to Gates. It was excellent.

Hope that helps.

We're going to the Royals/Diamondbacks on October 1st, and then we'll go to the Chiefs MNF game against the Redskins the next day.

There are 5 of us: my wife and I, a 16 year old son, 13 year old daughter, and 12 year old daughter.

Things I know I'd like to do:
Negro Leagues Museum
Eat some really good BBQ.
Tour of the stadiums

We're staying out by the Speedway. What else should we do? Thanks!
Go to Hollywood Speedway Casino.

I'm a big fan of the Steamboat Arabia museum. The "mundane" items on display were supplies headed for the 1860ish frontier and I found the collection pretty fascinating. It's a unique museum.

Curious as to why your staying at the speedway when everything you want to see is downtown. I'd recommend staying on the plaza instead. Unless its a price issue. I never stay in hotels here since I live here, so I'm not sure the price difference between the areas.

Char bar has a pretty sweet brunch place with bocce ball, ping pong, bags and washers.

The haunted houses might be open around that time if that's something your kids are into.

You can stay anywhere in the kc area for right around a hundred a night on priceline.

I wouldn't stay out there either. Plaza, downtown, crown center area.

Staying in a hotel with 5 people...so we looked for places with some more sleeping room at a good cost. Locked in a Comfort Suites by the Speedway for less than $100/night that has 2 queens and a sofa bed. Being near the Speedway wasn't optimal for the Royals/Chiefs thing, but we'll deal with it.

There is an Embassy Suites around 130th and 435 in KS that you should look in to.

Have you never heard of AirBnB?

Many $100 homes for rent in downtown KC in the middle of all the action. Plenty of room for your entire family.

https://www.airbnb.com/s/Kansas-City...s_tag=AiFPUzpD

You need to learn how to search better. You are staying in a crappy place and if you already paid, shame on you!

The WW1 museum is excellent. I took my boys there when they were 18 and 13. They loved it, and normally they don't care for museums.

WWI and Steamboat are both two thumbs up.

I'd stay away from The Shady Lady.
