It is an interesting draft, because so much of it is based on potential. It is as if they said "This draft is completely lacking in wow players, so let's grab guys with great ability and coach them up." I can tell you with last year's staff, it would have been a disaster. Reid obviously has confidence in himself and his coaches, and he pretty much pointed that out when speaking about Bray, in terms of (and I'm paraphrasing) "look, you've got me, you've got smart offensive minds, guys who have been players (IE Pederson, Nagy) and intelligent offensive minds (Childress) that you better take advantage of when you get in here, and you've got a good QB room with great examples of how to put the work in to be a pro (Smith, Daniel)."
We shall see how this turns out. He said the reason Davis fell to the bottom of the third is because there was that injury question, but that he feels he has first day talent. And Nico Johnson went there because they started seeing a run on a bunch of linebackers around that time, and they had about 5 or 6 grouped in there, and they liked Johnson and if they didn't take Johnson, no one would be left. And he's really, really high on the center... |

Thats what I want; a coach that gets "really high" on big impact positions like Center!

If you have watched Oakland dominate our offensive interior the last few years, you'd note that Center is a big impact spot for us. Our OL has been soft, and our centers undersized. There's a reason we can't beat the Raiders anymore...

I thought the draft was much more about the passing game and protecting Alex Smith.
As far as Alex Smith not having thrown any passes for us, it's more about the 2100 passes he threw before he came here. Some of us think that defines who and what he is, and should have defined his trade value. Obviously Andy Reid disagrees. And that's fine, but I don't see a reason to apologize for having very little faith that Alex Smith at 29 can suddenly turn into something he's never been. |

My complaint is just that a ton of Chiefs threads lately have been completely derailed by people beating that same dead horse over and over again rather than discussing the topic. We get it - Alex Smith sucks. But it's a done deal, so let's start talking about what the team can do to try and make him be successful as possible. |

I admit, I was one of the more overreactors on this draft at first. After watching tape I'm good with everything except the FB in round 6, if you're taking on Bray why not Da'Rick Rogers WR?
