The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

KC is constantly getting hosed in trades (value.)

We paid what the market said had to be paid to get the player the front office wanted. I don't think we got "taken." You can attack the philosophy of getting a vet QB, but the hand wringing and self-righteous indignation is misplaced with regards to the amount paid.

As long as the buyer gets satisfaction from it and it meets his requirements, then its worth every penny no matter what price.


Bottom line: All i want is for the Chiefs to win games. I dont care how they do it.

Somebody in this draft class is going to be a star at a position that can directly impact the outcome of games. That's a guarantee. It is absolutely going to happen. It should be the front office's job to find that guy, whoever he is, and draft him. Not go the 'safe' route, something which is indicative of a philosophy that's held back this franchise for literally decades now. You can't win if you don't have players that can make plays. Doesn't matter who it is, whether it's Geno or Jordan or Austin or whoever. Anything but the next Branden Albert.

I wasn't saying that like, no one will be really good, of course, there will be several good players, and some of them will be drafted in rounds 3-7. I really hope the Chiefs find one, but, its a crap shoot for everyone, if it wasn't Wilson would've gone top five last year. I agree with the draft board. If you have a player you like, but are certain will be there in round three, don't take him in round one. Take the players you know won't be there, even five picks later. And if a player drops, and you didn't think he'd be there at your pick, take him, but follow your board.
