I live within what is considered the greater Tampa Bay area, in a bedroom community about 45 minutes NW of downtown Tampa. I am just a couple of blocks from the Gulf Coast though.

Weather today is 93° with 62% humidity. That's not that bad a humidity level. It's been that in NE and even as high as 90%.

So today with no AC it is 89° in my house, because AC shorted out when power came back on and not working. Yesterday it was 91°. Summer ain't over yet.

I am wearing shorts rinsed in cold water and a thin flour cloth tied around my neck, drenched in cold water while I hold a bottle of frozen water on my lap to survive. If I go out I change but everyplace has AC.

I managed to get an old wall AC from a friend installed in my bedroom for a temporary fix but it is so loud. It's not that bad at night with windows open and ceiling fans on but not great either.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a bedroom community ? Is it just a place where people sleep all the time or do all the homes only have bedrooms and no living rooms and kitchens ??

I don't like Tampa as well as St. Pete. The beaches are over here. Too many places in Tampa and the places where Buceyepea live is just your typical cul-del-sac suburbia. Nothing wrong with that but I've done that for 15 years. We wanted something different.

Good to know. And I was more just generalizing that entire area as my preference over something like Miami, Orlando or Jacksonville. I think Florida is pretty unique and it would rock having that beach access and water.

It's a previously under developed area where housing and land are cheap compared to the city. Developers build like crazy and lure city folk there and **** our once quaint little town

With AC-not any more. Not that I moved here for weather reasons. I rather like snow.

Lump sum total, we have more days to enjoy outside weather—with the exception of summer. I treat summer like winter was once to me—our period of staying indoors.
I spend tons of time outside, all year round. But when I retire, it's one of the happy countries for me (I hope)... And they're happy because they're not hot..

we are blessed. Many here think It's the Indian burial grounds that protect us.

“What we dodged is incredible,” St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman (D) said. “All you have to do is look at Naples and the Keys. Naples had wind gusts of 142 miles per hour.” The same winds would have wreaked havoc on St. Petersburg. “We’re a peninsula on the Florida peninsula. I feel incredibly fortunate for us.”

Just got power and Internet back today. Had generator running all week. Hell week is over. Lost trees and all my fencing. I spent the last few days rebuilding the fences. I bought (25) 4x4 posts a few days before the storm. Good move on my part, all stores are sold out.

Dude, not accurate. There are parts of Tampa (Westchase, Carrollwood, etc.) like that but the South Tampa peninsula, including downtown, Davis Island, and Harbor Island is nothing like that. South Tampa is basically a richer downtown Saint Pete area. Great non-chain restaurants, shops/boutiques, Bayshore and the Riverwalk. The Hyde Park/Palma Ceia South Tampa area is absolutely not a cul-de-sac suburbia and less so than the neighborhood you live in.
