if anything, the loss is on Eli for not being smart enough to fetal up. Pass play wasn't a bad call when everyone in the world thinks you have to run.
Gotta give Romo this... the guy makes a lot of dumb mistakes on final drives, but he's also one of the most explosive in a 2-minute drill. If I'm the Giants, I'm not relying on a 6-point lead against Romo even with a minute left.

Now... I would agree both Carroll and Coughlin dialed up way too aggressive of pass plays. But the decision to pass wasn't a bad one.

yeah

Romo ran the absolute definition of the perfect "2 minute drill" to win a game in the NFL on opening night in prime time ...

but he did nothing to deserve that

just

I hate the Cowboys, but that was one hell of a 4Q performance by Romo.

so much lol

dude fields a terrible snap off the turf, can't get sacked or the game is over, collects himself, and throws a game winning TD after orchestrating the best 2 minute drill I've seen in a few years, effortlessly

but no credit

I think you could legit argue it would've been a safer play to run the ball twice there, even on 4th down. It'd still be a three point game, yes... but you would've probably run the clock down under 50 seconds and Romo would have to go 99 yards in about 45 seconds with no timeouts to beat you. Makes a tie more likely, but a loss less likely. Worst case you go to OT. And then you've really played all out to win the game.

The pass playcall wasn't a great call and the throw decision wasn't great either, but they could have made it work if Eli wasn't bad and dumb and threw it close enough to draw the flag.

Coughlin is getting too old and should move on to benefit the team. No way should he had let that shit get ran.

Jeremy Mincey has to be the happiest man in the Cowboys' locker room tonight. That dumbshit might just squeak away without the ass reaming he deserves for that stupid personal foul on the last Giants scoring drive.

no way

what?

you never go for it on 4th down there ...

seriously .. you get up 6 and then you give them the ball back with 50 seconds and no timeouts

and if your defense can't keep them out of the end zone, you have more problems

you don't let Romo have a chance to only have to gain 60 yards to get the thing into OT ... it's much harder to score a TD like that then have to get a field goal ...

50/50 they get a field goal in your scenario
10/90 they score a TD

there isn't a team in the NFL that goes for it on 4th down there unless, and this is still unlikely, they get the ball to the 1/2 yard line

but even then it would piss me off as a fan

maybe some day teams will stop playing pussy prevent defense in these situations
