****Official 2016-17 NHL Regular Season Thread****

The Western Conference is going to be a bloodbath this year. This thread is for the 9 hockey fans here to talk about it!

Thoughts on the upcoming season?

You're an odd one. Not terribly bright and as intellectually curious as a hamster, yet strangely belligerent.

I guess that's one way to go about it.
Don't you live in Boone County? I'm not sure why the St.Louis comment would have you so upset.

Question:

When you hear birds chirping do you assume they're pissed off about something? More specifically, do you assume they're pissed off about something you've done?

Has anyone ever had a disagreement with you where you didn't conclude that they were irritated? Your steadfast belief that people are impressed enough by you to be 'upset' by anything you would have to say - ever - is just another one of those things that makes you you.

As I've clearly stated, I find it strange that the residents of the better city still harbor such animosity towards an area they've lapped in recent years. Not infuriating. Not even unsettling. Just odd. It doesn't upset me in the least, I just can't figure out why. I grew up in the northland; I was there when KC sucked. I still spend a lot of time there and it most assuredly doesn't suck now. So what's the deal?

Beyond that, I called you a mouth-breather because you have a decade long track record that proves it. It was a tangent more than anything. "I'm puzzled by the animosity AND Billay is a half-wit" rather than "this animosity ESTABLISHES that Billay is a half-wit". See how that works?

I suppose my hatred for St.Louis is an irrational one not based on the "better city" per se but more so rooted in sports. I'm jealous St.Louis has an NHL team and we dont. I'm jealous their now defunct NFL team has had more success the past 40 years than the team I love. I'm jealous their baseball team historically is better than ours. I'm jealous they don't have to deal with beaker fans like we do in KC.

Yeah, but they get stuck with Blackhawk and Cubs fans.

Honestly, as much as I hate Beakers, I'm not sure the trade there is worth making. Cubs fans were almost as bad as Jayhawk fans when they SUCKED. They'll be even worse now.

I'm glad I live in the central part of the state and get to enjoy both cities without having to be in the pissing match. Both are excellent cities and I have fun and enjoy traveling to both.

Part of me wishes we had one big central city in the state, but having the two metros does have it advantages as well.

Are you looking for a Mazerati or a Bentley, FFS?

Otherwise, I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what you can't get in COMO.

I hope folks from KC realize that people from the St. Louis area don't give a shit about KC one way or another.

Chicago is the city that people from St. Louis try to compare St. Louis to, not KC. Has nothing to do with any opinion regarding KC. Chicago will always be our rival city in all aspects and I think that has to do more with how large of a city St. Louis once was.

I'm sure people from Chicago feel differently about being "rivals".

And please elaborate why St. Louis can eat a fat dick, Billay. Do you realize how big of a blow the Rams delivered to the area with regards to civic pride? I like downtown St. Louis and parts of the metro area, but it's fairly limited with regards to what it can offer socially. I like the Landing, Washington Ave. the Central West End in downtown, but after that, there's really not much else to do socially aside from BPV.

Also seeing someone mention Lamar Hunt Jr. buying a stake in the Blues, I don't see that. Ownership is 100% local.

You can live in the city and not be involved in the pissing match.

I've avoided it for 44 years. I've said it before, I'll say it again - I've lived in STL my entire life, and I don't know anyone personally who has ever said a bad word about KC.

Looking at a bunch of options but the XC90, QX60, Q7 and Discovery require me to haul my happy ass to STL or KC to test drive let alone maintain. At that level of SUV, you're a little limited and since I don't want to get stranded with no ability to have warranty work done on cars that are not cheap to fix, not having a local dealership kinda sucks.

Damn, I thought there was an Infinity dealership up there.

I can't speak to recent models, but I couldn't get rid of our Rover quick enough. That thing was a rolling money pit.

No X5?

Tech's a little too old; fun to drive but felt antiquated even before the newest generation of SUVs came out. It will feel like a (very expensive) dinosaur in the near future.

The local guys had new 2015 that was beautiful and they were dying to get it off their lot; metallic black with the blonde leather. They offered a full 30% off original MSRP. Hell, maybe I should've grabbed it but it just felt like it was going to feel out of date in a hurry.

Intrigued by the '17 Discovery. I hear they're maintenance nightmares but it sure is purty and frankly, they have so much riding on that thing that they'd better get it right (same with the VW Atlas that's also interesting). We'll find out when they start getting here in the spring, I s'pose.

I've never heard anything good about Rovers.

Further, I don't think there's civic disdain for KC from STL but there are some Cardinals fans that don't like Royals' fans based on being bandwagoners.

I don't like STL as a city to live in but don't mind the occasional visit considering the amount of friends I have who reside there. However, provel cheese is disgusting.
