Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

If we trade with Indy I'm assuming we're flipping our second round picks.

No way... maybe we flip the first but if not we are taking their 2nd and keeping our 2nd.

Keeping the pivotal defensive players fully in tact + Brown + Whatever we draft = Ideal situation in my eyes.

I prefer a lock down corner over whatever we could get in the 2nd. Especially if we're going for history this ONE year.

Gonna be a blood bath next year unless we sign a ton of extensions this season.

Gonna have to move on from Thuney next year and restructure Taylor and/or Mahomes too.
Yeah, the only thing that is a wildcard in this is how much of a cap increase next year will bring. It will definitely lessen the pain if it jumps north of $30 million like this year. That may be the saving grace.

Otherwise, it could get dicey.

One area where Veach does not excel in is trade compensation with big name players. We saw it with the Frank Clark overpayment and Tyreek's return offer from the Jets.
He is great at smaller acquistions who turn out to outperform their worth.
So, in this scenario, I wouldn't be shocked if the offer was a 3rd and a 4th.

He got a 2 for Dee Ford who was virtually worthless and brokedick for the rest of his career.

Hill went for exactly market value after the Adams trade in line with a guy who wanted to be a certain place and had leverage.

Stop with nonsense.

He wasn't at the time of the acquisition. A 13 sack starting DE for a late 2nd is incredible value.

People knew exactly who he was and how one dimensional Ford played.

Clark was valued dramatically higher at the time as a 3-down player yet you’re inconsistently just judging him by the results after the fact.

There wasn’t any great value for the 49ers getting an oft-injured Ford and having to give him a huge contract. Are you high?

He is a genuine lockdown corner, he did it all last season shutting down everyones so called stud... almost blanked all their sorry asses

If he won't fight the tag, if he wants a chance to be something never seen before... he will be a key cog in our threepeat, it makes sense for everyone involved

Do we maybe have a "down" year (10-7) in 25?

Who cares you momo, we just had the only threepeat in history

They shared similar profiles. Clark was obviously more explosive but the discrepancy wasn't to the point of dishing out a first and a second.
I am not saying Seattle fleeced us but surely Veach had more leverage than he realized at the time. You can draft your own DE with that compensation by moving up in the first.

My God, look at the 2019 draft... light on edge players. Maybe we get Montez Sweat, but why take that chance. We needed Clark and Mahomes was on a rookie deal. He didn't live up to the contract in the regular seasons, but he flat out balled in the playoffs. So we overpaid, who gives a ****. Take that into consideration with the new "dog" attitude he helped bring to the D and it lead to a SB the same year...all
