If Breeland's numbers were projected over the entire season he would have:

Been penalized more
Given up more completions
Given up more yards per reception
Missed more tackles
Given up more YAC.

I get it, he's cheaper.

But cheaper is not BETTER.

We got a cheaper, slightly worse player.

He's better than nothing. Great.

I think it's a wash. More than anything, it's a stop-gap solution so one of the rookies we draft this year can be groomed to start next year for 1/10th the cost without losing production. I still think the first few rounds are a pass rusher and DB... followed by a running back, OL, and slot receiver....

Have they done ANYTHING that you actually like this offseason?

Breeland on a 1-year deal is perfect. The guy was coming off an injury. There's a good chance his down year was due to that and that the guy they are getting is much better than last year's stats.

We already know Nelson is JAG.

Detox. He played almost a thousand less snaps lol. You can't extrapolate that into a season and say he'd do worse. It doesn't work that way. Players numbers go up and down sporadically based off oponents etc. in the NFL. And if factoring in Breeland was playing in an entirely new system as a spot starter, then you can't formulate an opinion of he's worse than Nelson or that Nelson is appreciably better - that's ridiculous.

For what reason? Just to get rid of him? It's not like he's really getting paid enough that cutting him would make a huge difference without cutting others to go with him.

They get rid of Ford, Houston, and Berry, all of which were needed. They can't just cut everybody.

I'm stating the stats as they've been laid out. Sorry if that bursts anyone's bubble.

I expected to see additions to the defense. Not lateral moves and downgrades.

But that's what we got, outside of Tyrann.

I didn't say that i didn't like this move. I'm glad they found a JAG to fill the hole. Great.

It's a "whatever" till they find something better.

Sorry that im not going full homer over replacing JAGs with JAGs and then expecting this defense to take steps forward.

Albeit of course, Veach isn't done. And again, i'll refrain any projections till camp breaks.

Why not? We do that all the freakin' time when comparing players. When it's not convenient we can't do it anymore?
