Tips on how to Speed, I wanna go fast.

I'm going to start going to Mayetta KS (just north of Topeka) once a week or so for some stuff. The highways there are pretty desolate, and going 90mph instead of 74 mph could lower my commute by almost a half an hour.

Any tips or scanners to use to avoid or locate the police using radar? With todays technologies & up to the minute information is it possible to significantly lower your risk of getting a ticket?

I usually drive like an old man, and whenever I do speed I get nailed. But then I see these people going 20 mph faster than me that never seem to get any tickets. Wondering if there is a trick I'm missing out on

The Federal Highway Administration has actually used a relatively airtight method for their methodology.

They were lowered to 55 because of a gas crisis. They are going back up because of better engineering on both vehicles and roads

If you are working and commuting back and forth why take the risk? Your tickets will go on your driving record and insurance will increase. Not to mention you pay your fines not your work. So why to save 30 minutes?
My guess is your just stirring the pot here anyway.

As for road designs and automobile engineering none of that can factor in condition of roadways. Only way is restrictions. On paper that road my be able to handle 100+ MPH speeds. They were designed that way for trained emergency personal and never intended for general public cruising at 100 MPH.

On Interstates the fed leaves a lot of speed limits up to the states within reason. They have not to exceed limits in rural areas and urban areas. If the state chooses to ignore those restrictions it at the jeopardy of loosing Federal highway dollars.

The Federal Highway Interstate System is the model for what came in countries elsewhere. Was signed into law in 1956 by Dwight Eisenhower and completed 35 years later. Most systems in the world were modeled after and improved on some by other countries. Face it no one could envision what the automobile would become to ordinary everyday life in the USA. Many houses were designed with a 1 car garage if at all now we see 3 an more the norm.

As for the Autobahn it stands for motorway or what we call a freeway. They have no speed limits except when entering urban areas. But anyone who has traveled the autobahn knows discretion is the norm accept for motorcycles. They will fly by you like your standing still. Oh and also the autobahn is not just expanses of 6 lane raceways. They have plenty of stretches of white knuckle 2 lane undivided also.

Oh and further more if you have hashed through state and federal highway plans as much as I have you will note one thing. That interior lane on the original plans was denoted the emergency lane not passing lane. That was its original intent until our freeways system got overloaded. Highway patrolmen used to issue tickets for driving in the emergency lane. My how times have changed.

It says going slow. Not going the speed limit. Also, speed is the number one cause of a traffic collision.

I'm not saying that all speed limits make sense. Because they don't. But I am going to point out that you don't think that you should have to follow laws that you disagree with.

eh, not if you're smart and pay a little extra fee to the court to have the moving violation amended to defective equipment. oh, who said this wasn't about generating revenue???

Do no more than 9 over and the cops won't **** with you. Pretty standard. If you do get pulled over, pull over, turn on your dome light and put your hands at 10 and 2. Have your papers ready and the cop will be cool.
