Blake Bortles

Blake Bortles.

When watching this guy play football, does anyone else confuse him with a sack of shit flying out of a truck?

I don't understand the hype about this guy. If someone does, please, PLEASE explain it to me... Why is this guy projected in some mock drafts to be selected #1 overall?

I spent a long time yesterday, watching Blake Bortles clips on youtube and to say the least, I am not impressed. Even in highlight reels, he appears to be the epitome of mediocrity to me. In freaking highlight reels!!!

He throws a wobbly pass. His arm doesn't appear to be THAT strong. His receivers are constantly making acrobatic catches due to his lack of accuracy...in fact, most of his highlight reels prompt me to sit there and think to myself, "whoa...who is THAT receiver???"

His release is very, very questionable. The talent he faced is "meh."

Can someone please explain to me what the big deal about him is, besides his size and Big Ben-esque pocket presence/scrambling ability? I am obviously missing something. Did he have an awesome pro day, combine or Senior Bowl? Did Gruden schlob the hell out of his knob??? WHAT??? WHY?!?!?!

Something about him reminds me of Gabbert... I think it'd be hilarious if the Jaguars selected him.

Liked him before the draft, after the draft, and now.

Jacksonville is starting to get a lot of pieces in place. Hurns, Yeldon, Bortles, etc.

Don't forget Robinson. They need to develop that defense now.

Great QBs found after the 1st, can make all the throws, or weren't drafted by the team they became great with? Some of the greatest QBs in the history of the NFL weren't 1st round picks or won with another team.

Tom Brady
Joe Montana
Steve Young
Joe Theismann
Bart Starr
Roger Staubach
Matt Hasselbeck
Rich Gannon
Tony Romo
Curt Warner
Dan Fouts
Fran Tarkenton
Johnny Unitas

Etc, etc

Arguably the greatest QBs in the history of the NFL weren't 1st round draft picks. (Montana, Brady, Starr, Unitas were all drafted in the 3rd or later.)

Does taking one in the 1st round improve your chances? Sure, but it largely depends on the quality of the QBs in that draft class. Just taking one for the sake of drafting a 1st round QB (Bills with EJ Manuel in 2013) in a crappy class will just set you back.

Now if a blue chip QB prospect is available (think Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, etc) by all means, go for it. If they aren't then it's better to wait, draft an elite player at a different position, and take your shot at a QB in the 2nd or later rounds while adding stronger pieces at other positions with your higher picks which will give whatever QB you bring in a better chance and less pressure to succeed.

Probably the part where he said "Bortles does not have a cannon" and yet Bortles leads the league in deep passes this season and I don't think it's even close.

I hope the Jags win that division... looks like a fun young team. The NFL needs young faces.

The Jags are all about youth.

Bortles, Allen Robinson, Denard Robinson, Allen Hurns, TJ Yeldon, Julius Thomas.

They just need to be more consistent on offense and shore up the defense.

I think Allen Robinson is tied with OBJ for league-lead in TDs.

Who would have guessed?

More proof that there are a lot of clueless posters on this board who jump to conclusions in year one. Don't worry though that happens in all message boards.

The Texans passed on Bortles, Johnny Foosball, Bridgewater, and Carr. What a reeruned franchise.

Oh, and it was a typical Rams move to pass on a potentially elite QB and draft OL.

I know I don't have to worry about KC drafting a franchise QB. We can all say stuff about teams but that one is a fact even you guys cannot deny.

He quoted a number of posts, ones that seem to be reasonable, that he laughs at.

Don't get it.
