I tried to find a Thanos vs. Darkseid vid, but all I could find were a bunch of geeks debating who would win. No actual comic video. I was hoping to find one where Darkseid's omega beams ****ed Thanos up just to see your reaction.

the variant cover I wanted was long gone

I usually dont get variants at locals. They are much cheaper on ebay or midtowncomics.com

Now that we know that Hickman's run on Avengers has been building up to Secret Wars the whole time, it's actually easier to slog through.

I recommend going all the way back to Avengers 001 from 2013 and moving forward from there.
