You are and idiot.

We have a ton of "star" players on defense. Houston, Hali, Powe, Berry, Johnson.

The issue has always been finding guys for depth and to fill out the team.

I'm a Flowers fan but at $10MM he wasn't worth it just like Carr wasn't 3 years ago.

The rules **** the CB so you must have pass rushers and good safeties. Period. The $ needs to be spent on Houston and Berry. Especially if Ford works out.

It is what it is. Flowers should have stayed on a restructured deal which I am sure they tried to work out. His ass got greedy.

By that measure Flowers "showed" he wasn't worth the $ either so quit bitching about it.

Yes it is.

The way offenses have evolved, you need corners that can tackle and cover,

If you don't have those, then pass rushers are useless, because the good QBs get the ball out too fast.

You simply aren't going to be able to cover 3 or 4 WR constantly with the way teams line up these days. No team has 4 cover CB's.

You are absolutely right, but that isn't the point.

This. The elite QB's (and the very good ones) get rid of the ball too quickly these days. When the CB's get beat, they best be in position to make the tackle. Limit YAC yards. See 43-8...

IF ther defense / CB's can cover in spots, you can cause the elite QB to hold on to the ball a split second longer and THEN the PASS RUSH becomes a factor. See 43-8

I used to assign more importance to the pass rush before all the rules changes and the evolution of the offenses, etc. Now, it's the other way around. A great pass rush can be beat all day with a quick release and an open WR. Cover the WR (I don't care if its zone or man) and you give the pass rush a chance.

I think this belief is massively overblown. You guys act like every QB is Manning.

Ok lets look at the Chiefs schedule and see how this pans out.

Week 1 - Titans - Not good or elite QB.

Week 2 - Broncos - Elite and an issue.

Week 3 - Dolphins - Tannehill is a sack machine

Week 4 - Patriots - Elite and always can be an issue but the WR are a dumpsterfire. Key to beating Brady is pressure, we all know this.

Week 5 - 49ers - Not elite or quick release type QB. More of a running threat so front 7 is much more important. Not a pocket passer.

Week 7 - Chargers - Rivers used to be pretty quick but is among league leaders in getting sacked the last few years and will make terrible throws under pressure.

Week 8 - Rams - Bradford not elite or above average.

Week 9 - Jets - Not elite, not quick release sack machine

Week 10 - Bills - Not elite not a quick thrower

Week 11 - Seahawks - Conservative would not say a quick thrower. Threat with his legs. Smart player and an issue regardless.

Week 12 - Raiders -

Week 13 - Broncos - Yea that dick again.

Week 14 - Cardinals - Who is their QB again?

Week 15 - Raiders - See #12

Week 16 - Steelers - Holds onto the ball all day long.

Week 17 - Wivers again.

Tell me in your opinion how many guys besides Manning that fall under this umbrella of being able to just stand in under pressure and deliver quick strikes all day?

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I'd bet half of the QB's the Chiefs play could do it. Not to the extent that Manning, Brady, or Rivers could but that's 5 games right there. There would just have to be 3 more QB's that could do it for it to be a factor for half the season. That's not overblowing anything.
